Does anyone on here have any experience of importing a car, and the pitfalls\pratfalls of doing this.

The car I'm lloking at is GCC spec. The landed price seems quite favourable, but once arrived in the UK it will need type approval, re-registration, etc. Any one have an approximate idea of what sort of figures we are talking about here?

    Thanks gents....

The car is a low mileage 348Ts, and it is in Bahrain. I have been offered it Landed and taxed for less that £25k. Looks very tempting.....

Not to bad money wise, but you can probably get closer to home for that sort of money. Options include Germany and Switzerland-bear in mind that you would have to pay VAT for a Swiss car, unless it has been registered first in a EU country. If the car is over 10yrs old you don't have to worry about type approval as the DVLA do not care where it comes from. Under that you will need it.

Also having a car shipped over can sometimes be dodgy as I have known for bits to go missing on cars (stereos, handbook's) go missing and also tyres have been damaged as they are driven onto the Ferry.

Swiss cars are our speciality so if you want us to look drop my mate an email as previously mentioned on our last PM

I imported my 348 Spider from the Middle East last November.
