If I stick on a tubi and decat my 348, would it have any effect on my insurance?

I assume I would have to notify the insurance company of any mods made to the car. However, decatting is technically illegal as it won't legally pass the MOT.

Therefore if I have an accident, could the insurers refuse to pay up?

Also, what if I get stopped by a policeman who happens to be a part time mechanic and knows that I have removed the Cats?

I'm not a lawyer, but I'd say that even if it wouldn't pass an MOT, the insurance company would have to argue that the removal of the catalyst made a significant contribution to an accident, especially if you had informed them of the modification.

As for the policeman noticing I'd say that would be very unlikely as you will never get stopped, only flashed!

I've not read of any Tubi'd/decatt'd Ferrari getting pulled by the police...

Not wanting to sound silly, but your probabley best off asking your insurance company this question, of if your really worried just take the cats off and chip out all the inards that way you'd be able to claim you had no knowledge the factory fitted cat's were defective (officer :D )
