I have also been looking for a few months and haven't seen anything. I am especially looking for a blue euro hardtop

they do. i do not like the "shark fin" anttena that is on the roof. the steering wheel is wrong and the car has no books or tools. i plan on looking at it next week, but the asking price is high. the main reason i wnat to look at it is to see if the "shark fin" can be removed.

What price range are you guys shopping in?

An excellently restored Euro spec GT that I know of recently sold at $100K, GTS in good driver condition is over $100K, saw a very good, but not nearly perfect Euro GTS the other day with an asking price of $110K.

If you're thinking nice GT for $70K or GTS at $85K, I'm afraid some re-thinking, or long waiting, will be the order of the day. I guess cars with stories or no history can be had cheaper, but, long laundry lists of repairs probably come with those cars.

Keep us in the loop. It's always nice to know what market is. It will be interesting to see what you guys find.

Um...a "nice solid Dino" would NOT be an old restoration or unrestored car! A nice solid Dino would be a recent restoration, or at least have had lots of bits upgraded. It will have had a repaint after having had the rust issues delt with.

If you want a good condition unrestored car (or older restoration) it will have rust, electrical issues, lots of bits that need repair or replacing...these are 30+ year old cars and weren't all that reliable even when new. You will get what you pay for but the best condition Dino will cost a lot less than a project Dino that you want to fix up.

I believe this one is around the 80K range. It is gorgeous. I remember seeing the F430 there, the first to go through LoD and the Dino is the one that stood out among all cars. Just amazing.

    ken,

i have a 74 gts that has never been unrestored. it was repainted resale red in 1990. it is what i would call a nice solid dino.

i am in the process of buying another 74 gts. it too hasn't been restored. it was resprayed it's original color in 1990 but with no evidence of body work or rust repair. that is when it was sold by it's 15 year + owner. it is basically a two owner car. although i can find faults with it, it is a 30 year old car. it too is a nice solid dino.

to be a solid car, it doesn't have to be recently restored. i would rather have a nice solid original car over a recently restored car all day long.

Those prices seem about right to me for very good ones with no stories.

Hate to admit my ignorance, but what does "no stories" mean? Does it mean there is nothing known to be wrong with the car or that no one knows anything about it's past?

no stories means that there no known former problems with the car, such as it was wrecked, stolen, or some how grossly mistreated.

"well, the reason it has a chevy motor and doesn't have a serial number is cuz my uncle once met Enzo and Enzo told him he had worked on a prototipo motor with Mr. Chrevrolet up there in Dearborn Michigan and Enzo liked my uncle so much that he made this Ferrari just for him w/ that prototipo motor and Enzo said this Ferrari was so special that it deserved a limited edition s/n of #1. So that's why I call it a 251 California. These cars normally go for $3Million but I'll let it go for 30. as in thousand. Honest."

as sad as it sounds, wasn't there a story like that in the fml several years back. i seem to remember the guy refusing to open the engine bay as part of the "deal with ferrari" included keeping the partnership a secret between ferrari and pontiac (?). does anyone lese remember this "story"?
