ok, i recived 3 emails from ferrarichat.com says that 3 of my ads were going to expire.

i only have 2 ads running, and when i clicked one of the links its says the item is already sold?

why was there no explanation for what happened last week?

i know Rob and the Mods have lives away from this place, but a bit of feedback is nice. :)

there is a window that pops up in the links to ferrariads showing " item not scripted correctly "

    quote :

The problem with FerrariAds.com has actually been there since the new software was installed 6 months. Actually all of this the past week was just the fix. :) Renewal notices weren't being sent at all before and no ads were ever expiring. We fixed that where renewal notices will go out now, but still might be a little quirky for all previously existing ads. We didn't know which ads should still be on there and which ones were sold or should be delisted. What we did is last week put all old ads to expire this week. So that's why everyone received the renewal emails this week, even for old ads. If you don't want the ad anymore, do nothing and they will be removed. If you want to renew the ad, then click that link.

The first problem I have already identified is the renewal emails aren't descriptive, so you don't know which ad it is talking about if you have more than one. I've already submitted this as an enhancement request to the software company or I can just add this code myself. Until then the best is maybe to view all your ads directly at FerrariAds.com and manage what you want listed, SOLD, or not renewed that way.

If there are any other problems, please let me know. Last week to fix the renewal email problem, we upgraded the software from 2.11 to 2.41, so there may still be some tweaks needed from that jump.

    Thanks,
    rob

OK, thanks for the problem report. Don't tell me if you get the email, everyone that has posted an ad in the past should have received an email. Just let me know if errors with the links or anything else.

Too many problems for now, so I've closed back down. Might be thru the weekend before I can reopen again. Other problems...

    1) All new ads posted since this weekend are deleted every night when the renewal job runs. All old ads are staying around, but new ads deleted.

    2) When you go to "My Ads" appears to be no way to renew or remove the ad. I see the "Sold it", but that leaves in the forums with SOLD and I'm not sure for how long.

I don't think any of these are major problems, but will take a few days and too much trouble to leave the ads open.

    Sorry,
    rob

Hopefully some progress will be made today, but don't count on it. In-laws and my mom are in town from Kansas this weekend.

Feedback I received from the developer has been…

    1) If you go to the ad directly and select "Sold It", then supposedly the link turns into "Renew It". I haven't tested and seems bass ackwards that to renew an ad you have to first sell it, but that's what he said.

    2) They will also look into making each email more descriptive which ad it actually is as you get one email for each ad.

    3) He didn't believe me that all new ads posted yesterday would be removed overnight even though I told him that was the bug. Sure enough this morning I looked and all had been removed.

Have you thought abou adopting a policy, similar to the FCA Club newsletter, of forcing people to put in an asking price for the car.

Hmm, right now just trying to get it to ask for the price when you first register, that was another bug, might be fixed with the upgrade, I'll check.

    Update...

    1) Ads are still closed until at least tomorrow and I can do a final test.

    2) Appears the fix worked for not removing new ads overnight.

    3) Have put a fix in for valid link in renewal email, but won't test until tomorrow morning.

I am wholeheartedly in agreement on this. It has always seemed so "cheesy old school car dealer with white shoes" to not include a price, when that is the first thing a buyer wants to know. Yeah, maybe if its a super rare, very expensive collector car but otherwise, give us a break and include the damn price.

    Nice going Rob –

Have not been there for a long time.

Glad to see the new format. The old Ads had too much junk in it like MLM Bus Opportunity, Time Shares, etc posted by non members looking to take advantage of free advertising.

Looks like our problems have to do with a bad upgrade when I jumped through all the versions from 2.07 to 2.41. The developers have been less than helpful, so I'm thinking about doing a fresh install and we'll keep the old ads up so you can copy manually or I will load them systematically. Either way it will take care of the remaining nagging bugs. More info will follow after I do the install. Sorry.
