    Hi all

I need your help - my 550 was stolen from my garage early on Sunday morning, and so far TrakBak have been unable to recover it.
Please keep your eyes peeled, they are not so common so if you see one driving around or parked up fitting the description, please call the police @ Orpington on 01689 891212 & quote CAD#4940.

    Car's details are:
550 Maranello TdeF blue, crema interior, wing shields, reg V256OGC
There's a small maranello sales sticker at the base of the rear window. Apart from that, no other distignuishing features.

Car could be anywhere in the country now, if not abroad, but blue 550s are so rare if u see any, please try to check it out.

    thanks

    Ian

P.S. Can a moderator make this thread sticky please???

Live in Kent, will keep eyes peeled, although its probably on a boat or in bits by now. Keep us posted on how good trackback have been. Also did you have any work done on its lately where someone could have cloned keys etc. I once had a bmw stolen after I had some crash damage repaired, they used cloned keys etc.

Nice to see you've put a "wanted" poster in your avatar already Mark!:D

Sorry to hear of your loss, Ian, but DISGUSTED that Trackbak can't locate it!!!!

    Why not?????
Surely there was an instant alert, UNLESS they used the remote fob and keys??

nope, it's simpler than than that, they broke into our house, got the keys, opened the garage and drove it away (and took our other two cars while they were at it - terrific)

Sorry to hear of your loss Ian. I frequent Kent but would expect it to now be in a container.

I'm not sure if the location info on F-Chat avatars helps potential theives in locating valuable cars. Anyone have thoughts on this ?
I note you're based in Locksbottom, which is quite a small area in which to search for a 550.

Ahh, yes, I lived in Green Street Green (About 3 - 4 miles from Locksbottom) and around 3 years back they broke into my house looking for my Merc;s keys, I carry them with me so they left without taking a thing, it was a gang operating in the area. I reckon, keep your keys with you or keep them in a safe.

Sorry to hear they took more toys. At least you were not harmed.

    Hi Ian,
Live and work in Kent so will keep a lookout but like others i believe time is of the essence in these situations.

What a nightmare for you having them break in to the house and take the keys. I`m sure this is a lesson for us all who have our spare keys somewhere easy to find.

Bad news Ian - I am quite local to you so it is a worry - were you in the house at the time?

Time for a big dog perhaps?

No we were out thank god. Yes i think the lesson for us all is keep yr car keys locked away at night in a safe. Seems draconian but a sign of the times unfortunately. Big dog would play havoc with the wife's allergies but nice thought :) big f*ck off security system is the only remedy i think. Am checking out pictures of Fort Knox as we spk...

    Ian,

Do you have a burgalar alarm on your house? The only reason I ask is that my house was burgled about 2 months ago. They only took electrical items, although they found the keys to all of our keys, but thankfully left them there.

Have since had an ADT system put in and now feel much safer.

About 5 years ago I had some stuff stolen from my house. The policeman whoa attended said that in 20 years he had never been to a burglary where there either a working and set alarm, or a large and loud dog saying that Proffesional burglars will always minimise their risk and walk pass protected houses and go the the next one.

Yes I did Ravi but an oldish one which they managed to rip out before the siren started. Got ADT coming round to give me a quote, they're meant to be the mkt leader aren't they. Gonna get the garage alarmed up as well for obvious reasons...

rang sister in law at lunchtime with details of the car ... she works for customs & excise at dover ... 'tis a bit of a long shot, but she has duly spread the word.
good luck with this, cheers, d
ps ... my mate in yorks has a trip wire across his garage, connected to apparatus which fires a blank 12 bore cartridge if triggered - imagine the condition of the burglars' underwear following such an incident.

In my personal opinion I would never recommend ADT for an alarm install. You need to get a well recomended company that won't screw you when you have a false alarm and need a reset.....amongst other things.

How about VIN code? Unlike the plates, it takes more than two minutes to change that.

    Mogga,
Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Have you got any details of the other cars aswell. Maybe they wont try moving them on so quick, and they may lead you to some results?
I'm not sure of all the details for trak-bak, but some of our crew on the Skyline forum have had very expensive cars stolen in the same manner, and have had them recovered, as the thieves although with the keys, dont know where the tracker is situated or whether they have disabled it. They usually leave the car somewhere for a while monitoring it for tracker to find it or not. When after a while it is still sitting, thats when they move it on. Hopefully its still around somewhere.

    Good luck.
