i'm wondering if it's possible to replace US-spec 308 GT4 rubber bumpers (front and rear) with the more visually appealling euro bumpers. i'm looking at the front bumper and it doesn't seem likely without body work. it certainly doesn't look as simple as with 308 GTB/S models. any thoughts?

    thanks

It's my understanding (as a non-owner) that the bumpers are not interchangeable. There's sheetmetal changes required to make the euro bumpers fit. Robert pushed his US spec bumpers in about 2 inches front and rear, you might chat with him.

Here's a good description of what you're facing

There is major difference in the sheat metal on US cars. When I owned my GT4 I found a pair of fiberglass bumpers, not sure if they are still avaliable out there or not. I moved them in a few inches and they looked much better and about 100 lbs. lighter. Regards, Vern

I'm just new the the Ferrari fraternity having just bought a '75 308gt4 last month. My car is the US version with the clunky bumpers...however the fellow who owned it before me had them moved in about 2 inches per bumper and it makes a huge difference. The bumpers actually look like they were meant for the car not some afterthought. It is still not as sleek as the euro bumpers, but it is good enough as far as I'm concerned. I don't know the exact technical steps for this mod but email me and I can give you the name of the guy who did it. I'm sure he'll be happy to help you out. You can see a picture of my car on the 308gt4 registry...serial No. 10832.

My US bumpers are pushed in as well. Huge difference in the look.

Pushing in US bumpers is easy. Drill through the shocks, sticky goo will leak out, push in the bumpes, drill all the way through and put some bolts all the way through the shocks to hold them compressed. No weight savings though :(
