Looks like SVM Lindfield? I moved there in late 70's and saw my first ever Ferrari (308 GTB) being delivered on Sat morning to some lucky guy and his young son.. I'll never forget that moment of revelation and transport to another totally unsuspected world! Likely can dig up some old circa pics too.. anyone interested? Alex.
Not trying to be picky, but since when is '73 vintage? You're making me feel old and I know that I'm not!
circa '77 Salesman just about went into apoplexy when, after walking respectfully around taking pics, I opened the door to the Boxer and took one inside.. Obviously a schoolkid isn't a likely sales prospect but there were nice enough to let me into the showroom and look around and after heart starter moment (for them ;-) they were still ok. Other pics around but wayyy deeper in the archives.. Alex. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for posting. It is always interesting to see anything from the early days of Ferrari in Australia.
I feel better knowing that I put the right cavallino on the grill of my 365. Now, if I can just find that damn small license plate frame I'll be all set!
Hey Carl... see those knock on wheel weights on outside edge the Boxer wheels... Death by castration for the perpetrator..... Nice blue Dino too. Got any 512BB shots from late 70's??
i remember seeing my first boxer in 1978 when i took my dino for a service. yum yum...i don't remember, but it'd have been a 365 wouldn't it?
not necessarily, 512 on the road in 78 in uk, possibly late 77 for demo cars. and anyway, couldn't you tell?
it was in 1978!! I don't remember....i don't remember what i did 5 mins ago. i DO remember the orange dials though...it was a space ship at the time
Ok hers's one for all you 70's guys... I want an "interesting italian car" (under $20k) built or first registered either on my birthday or my wifes... what should I buy.. 21/04/70 or 12/05/73 I'm thinking Alfa Junior so far
Phil the 105 series alfa a great car.You could also get a spyder for that sort of money if its to your liking.See if you can find a osso di seppia or boat tail earlier version 68-69 I think. They do come on the market every once in a while. How about an Alfa Montreal?Great car especially for a mechanic. They do go for slightly over the 20 grand mark though. But for under the 20 mark the 105 alfa is probably your best bet.The Lancia Fulvia is another nice interesting 70s period car especially the HF, but I dont think you will find one for under 20 k
- One more of the Boxer from SVM Lindfield Motor show 1978 with: - new 308 GTS and GTB - shockingly exotic Countach drawing big crowds - new X1/9 for $8949 Hope brought back some memories for someone, or filled in some gaps otherwise Alex. Don't want Alfa spyder really. Too much money and want something potentially trackable. A Montreal.... hmmm. Yeah, good car for a mechanic. No thanks. I spend enough time under cars as it is. I'm still thinking Alfa GT Junior or similar... where's a good place to learn more... and find build/reg dates.
Yes, I saw that, I hope they are powder coated, as Ferrari suggest! I wonder what the chassis number of that 365BB is, can anyone help? I'm guessing it's #18159, the car that Jorgo and Batagol had, any ideas? Regards, Carl.
Lovely to see the old photos. Thanks for posting them. Anyone got any more they can post? Season's greetings, Pete
