Wasn't sure about the category, so i thought Vintage would be the best. An old friend of mine has a massive collection of old camera film and slides, which we have finally got around to putting on paper. he took the photos himself and so far they have never been printed until now, so i know they have never been seen before. I am hoping to slowly get some more done, but for now, here's a few to get your attention. Personally, the first one is my favourite, and i would do anything to go back in time and be there with those guys......my heroes. See how many you recognise!! wow - keep them coming. I think I see at least 3 americans in the group - Phill Hill, Dan Gurney and Richie Ginther - was that a high-water mark for the # of americans in F1 at the same time?
Jack, i'll certainly mention it to him, but he is quite passionate about his collection. Bryan, you might be right there. Certainly a collection of great drivers. I think i'm going to get Patty Mclaren to sign my photo. Bruce was one of my favourites.
I agree. Who is that to his left (camera right) in front of a typically blase' Graham Hill? I think the blue jacket might be Chris Amon, but I'm not sure. Jack
The chap in the blue jacket on the bottom row is probably Mike Hailwood. That might be Chris Amon between McLaren and Graham Hill. It's easy to spot Jim Clark, Jo Bonnier, Dan Gurney, Phil Hill, Jack Brabham, Jo Siffert, John Surtees, Bruce McLaren, and Graham Hill in the top row. Might be Mike Spence and Chris Amon in there too. The bottom row looks like Richie Ginther, Scarfiotti, Trevor Taylor (?), and Mike Hailwood. That's my guesses - I'm open to other suggestions.
The race looks to be the 1960 Silver City Trophy race from Brand Hatch. Here is a link with the results, grid, etc. http://www.formula2.net/F160_16.htm
The first photo appears to be the British GP at Brands Hatch in 1964, and the guy 2nd left in the front row is Bob Anderson, then John Taylor 3rd left. Paul M
Indeed it is Tom, good find!! Here's a couple more that i scanned today. Ritchie Ginther in the 246 Dino & Tim Schenken or Ronnie Peterson in the Ferrari 312PB 1972 at Brands. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In the first photo:- Clark, Maggs behind, Baghetti, Bonnier lounging, Gurney, P. Hill, Brabham, Siffert, Spence, Revson, McLaren, Amon, G. Hill. front: Ginther, Anderson, J. Taylor, Hailwood (missing from lineup: Surtees, Bandini, Ireland, T. Taylor, Raby, Gardner.) Thanks for posting these - great pics.
Sorry to intrude, but hear are a few that I took in the mid 1960s (Daytona and Sebring) and mid 1970s (Watkins Glen). I posted these a few years back, but do so again here because of the interest in old photos. Jim S.
