Which would you pick and why? I have found a couple of Testarossas that are somewhat in the same price range as 348s Which would you choose? I found a 90 Testa with 19K for around 58K Good deal?

either car is great if they are good cars.
A low priced TR may be that price for a reason

When I bought mine I too was looking at 348. I thought cheaper, smaller car..all that stuff.

But I knew that I would always wanting to buy a TR. With the TR, there is nothing that I want to upgrade too.

SO comes down to what you want ?

The TR - last of the great midengined 12 cyl ferraris!

I was thinking the same thing while I was looking, as I really liked the style of both cars.

I added one to my collection, and down the road may add the other. For now I wanted one I could enjoy driving, and for me, it was clear which one to get first.

    I went with the 348.

I am 6'3" and @200lbs, and I can drive a 348 much more comfortably than a TR. While I don't have "a 12" out back, I can enjoy the drive in a seating position that I choose, not chosen by the car due to my size. The fact that the top comes off (it is a 348ts) is an added bonus that I would not have been able to get with the TR.

The 348 is not the fastest car in the garage, and the TR would not have been either, so I did not make my selection looking for the "ultimate performance" car.

    Hope that helps.

    Michael,
I'm glad you posted this as I was about to ask the same. I love my mondial but I've had a hankering for a TR or 348 for some time. Right now I have a real nice car thats pretty much affordable. I'm afraid if I get either of these other cars and for some odd reason somthing goes really bad I'm totally screwed. There is nothing like spending money on something that can't be used, I've been there.

348, 348, 348 as it will whip up on TR's around a track. In all seriousness though just drive them both and buy the one you want. They are both awesome cars.

I've owned both, the 348 twice. The Tr is more of a "touring" car, great presence on the road, while the 348 has more of a "track feel" to it. For daily use I would recommend the 348, as it will be less to maintain in the long run anyway. Go for the TR if you want the icon of the 80's, either way, they are both great cars, and both scream "Ferrari".

I would say the TR all the way but then, that' me. It all depends on how you want it for. They're both different. The TR is big, huge, Grand touring, great in high speed strightline traveling. The 348 is a compact, easy to drive, great maneuver around the track or twisted roads. If you maneuver the TR the way you do it with the 348, you'll spin off the road. You have to respect this flat 12 quite a bit. Maintainance is of course the TR is higher, but not so excessive. I had tried out both cars before I made my decision. I drove the 348 once and it was enough. To me, the Testarossa fit my taste most. Ask youself what you really want.....

    Love my 348. Fun, Power, C O N V E R T I B L E ! ! ! Surprisingly comfortable for touring. 8 cyl cheaper on the maintainence (in my opinion).

Now for the plug, mine is for sale in the FerrariAds.com section.

Seriously, I love my 348. I see another one in my future.

I have a 90' 348 TS and I've recently spent some significant drive time in an 89' TR. They're both great cars. To me the TR is awesome but I'm still biased a bit towards the 348. The TR is a "supercar" no doubt, but the 348 has more of a tossable feel and the difference in straight line performance is negligible on real world roads. On the other hand, in terms of the public reaction, driving the TR was like being in a parade compared to my 348, and that's saying something. At the end of the day, they're both pretty amazing, particularly if you're new to the Ferrari fold. I'm making the usual assumptions that you know the drill on maintenance, PPI's, etc.

The 348 is no slouch by any means

Likewise, as the Alberta Guys can tell you, I can hold my own with the 360s also. (Not bad for 20 y car)

So Michael, you really have 2 great options to choose from. If I were you, as would be the undisputed answer on this forum, buy the better "individual car"

Good luck and please share what you end up with

This question has been asked many times in the past, and just like any other opinion poll, you will get 100 different opinions from 100 people. They are two very different cars, with the 348 being more agile and the TR more of a GT. My suggestion is take your time and find one that is well cared for, and buy the one YOU want.

I don't have a 348 but I do have a TR and a 355. I'm 30-something so I grew up watching Miami Vice and always wanted a TR but ended up with a 308QV as my first F-car. After I purchased my F355 Spider I still wanted a TR.

The TR is not a car for running errands or short trips, but it is great for long highway runs. The F355 like the 348 is great for trips around town, but can can get old quick with the stiff suspension and lighter weight on long trips.

No one car can satisfy every need - Even a weekend car has different applications depending on the weekend. My experience has taught me that needs and wants change with time and so will your F-car needs/wants.

Buy the best example within your budget, maintain the car properly, and if your needs/wants change move-up/down as required.

My advice is go for the TR! I actually find my TR to be perfectly suitable also for errands and short trips. By the way I use my TR on a daily basis, except when it is snowing, and enjoy every second driving it. I have driven a few 348's as well, but never owned one, and from those experiences I definitively would recommend the flat V12 to the smaller V8. I find the experience in the TR more gratifying, but when it comes to a choice try both cars out. The important thing is that you get a good car which has been driven regularly and is properly serviced. Good luck!

Well its a simple choice for me. When i first came to the US back in 87, they had just added the white TR as the new ride for Crockett. I remember seeing a red one in person in San Francisco.........well lets just say it was a life changing experience for an 18 year old..........well close to life changing.

Lets cut the story short.......i own a 89TR (red/tan).......i do drive it for short runs and errands and this car never gave me the feeling of tough city car. i drive it often and put 600 to 700 miles a month. I made it louder by putting a TUBI ...........love it. I think im biased to the car. i feel the power quite adequate ..........amazingly i just sold a 2002 996tt and dont regret selling it. NO SOUL>>>>>>>>>>>>shall i say.

    Tr all the way.....
