Any of you guys in the Lone Star state familiar with this car? Quiz: Besides the radio anyone else see what I see missing? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4609956402&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1
Im also replying to ask is there a special procedure to post something important on this site. Im looking for a special car myself. Im looking for an 89 328 gts red on tan low miles and perfect. Thanks. Jeff in Texas
All US.Boxers are Grey Market, Meaning Euro cars.....When converted here,Decals or silk screen overlays were used on speedo faces...But that did not change the gear ratio s in the odometers..They still read out Kilometers in Distance covered. So if you use the rapid conversion technique as I do, you multiply by 6 or .6...17000 kilos times .6 is 10,200 miles! Interesting Question...DOES ANYONE HAVE A US BOXER THAT READS OUT MILES ON THE ODOMETER....are you sure?I think I remember Parker saying he had his car for 2 years b4 he figured out it was in Kilos...He was happy to find out he had @ 1/2 the mileage he thought he had. Right Parker!Doesn't Parker remind you of Joe Pesci in My cousin Vinny!
Was told by the idiots at Motorcar Gallery that it was 14k miles....knew already it was km as you say...couldn't be rocket science..besides simply comparing mile markers on the road with readout, or just look at it roll! I drove mine for a few hours and put 600 "miles" on her..knew that couldn't be right. Maybe Frank could represent the idiot on the "Putnam Leasing screwed me" thread....
back to the orig. thread question...if interested, simply call James or Mike at Norwoods and have a PPI done..that's always my first step...only a few hundred and it takes the emotion out of the transaction...never looked at mine..just had Tim Stanford in Florida give it a going-over..easier to make an educated decision that way...interiors are a weak spot on some Boxers..all can be fixed for a few bucks..Service history obviously important...I can tell you NOT ONE I looked at had up to date service...plan on a engine-out service on any of them...usually 5-7k incl. tensioner bearings and wp replacement..just part of the ownership cost... Orig. Pioneer radio missing is a big nut...mine's at the Pioneer shop right now and the parts to repair are not readily available...they are trying to special order something now... doubt you'll find one available. factor that into your pricing.
The original post was a quiz to find out what was missing. My comment on the mileage had nothing to do with mile/km's, I was suggesting that maybe the answer to the quiz was that the mileage/km's on the car was not correct.
I recall Ferrari UK once posting a complete MPH speedometer for a Boxer, so I think it was possible to have one, just not common. Mine was never changed at all, so it makes it easy (and I have a great excuse when I get a ticket-- gee, officer, you mean 200 kmh isn't 55mph? Don't you divide by four or something?)
The JACK KIT appears to be missing..... it's not in the photos. Also, the rectangular aluminum plate for mounting the rear license plate/frame is missing too. So, Murph... what did I win??
maybe next time I'll read the first post...I get it...I know what mine is missing: Receipts from Sears! should I be concerned?
The horses on the mirrors, the rear plate brackets, front plate bracket and it has 365BB headers with ansa sport exhaust for the sport 365 headers just like mine. What do I win?
Crapppp! I didnt see the little white arrow to see the other pics! Yes, no yellow fan and no radio manuals either.
Tires are the wrong size. Mine are the same front and rear, different size and VR instead of ZR rating. Didnt know you could get different sizes from michelin, the script on the tire is also wrong. Plug wires should be white. Its still a great car regardless of us picking it apart, I think it would be a nice one to get a hold of, eliminate the DOT lights and enjoy.
I know that car well. It sat in my garage for a while. Local San Antonio owner traded it in at the "Local Dealer" for a 355. Wrong tires, missing the fan, has a funky clutch that chirps, needs service, and the radio was different. It's a really great running BBI though, the old owner had all of the documentation on the car, etc. Image Unavailable, Please Login
