Is there any way to determine by simple visual inspection if the factory headers on a 430 are of the older type or the newer type?

Does anyone have the publication from Ferrari on this matter that he can post here? I have to imagine it's been posted here before but I cannot find it in the archives. Taz?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I imagine this is covered in pretty much every 430 header thread in the 430 section rather than up here - try a search just on header restricted to that section (more than 500 to choose from) - maybe also restricted to titles only to limit further (about 40 threads)

No. It's not covered in every 430 header thread. I know how to search. Like you, I've been a member here a while. Looking for help here if someone has the quick answer.

Ok so I found the bulletin / campaign for this from
    Ferrari.
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachments/360-430/1232105d1289676241-f430-headers-1661-f-430-new-exhaust-manifolds.pdf

Still can't find the answer to the first question despite the dozens of discussions.

Is there a way to tell by looking at the manifolds/headers visually?

Don't they have different part numbers ? I would assume they do, so if you can see the part number on the header, that would tell you which one you have. Although, it may be covered up by the shielding, etc. ?

EDIT --- according to that Ferrari TSB, they do in fact have different part numbers.

From Ricambi's website, here is a photo of the part number on the OEM newer (replacement) header ---- it is located on the shield, so easy to see. I don't know what the older ones look like.

So we have a cracking manifold issue with F430s with excess heat not the issue, yet when I show my 575's cracked manifolds, I have burned them up according to Taz, RD etc. I had no outward noise indicating the cracks. They were only found using a listening device. I would suggest that in the interests of fire prevention that all 575 owners have their manifolds acoustically checked at the next service. I will bet there are many other cracked 575 manifolds out there just waiting to be found or burn things up. I will also bet that nobody with cracked 575 manifolds will replace them with the OEM garbage at $20k plus (unless forced to by emissions regs). I also wonder how lean these cars will run if no ECU re-map is done when the manifolds are replaced with headers. The majority 575 owners who are not interested in performance will just have the grin and bear the extra 50bhp after they have to install headers.

Those of you looking at a 575 to buy should insist that the manifolds are checked in any PPI.

I can't confirm it's the same for Federal market cars, but on European cars the MK1 manifolds have a different part number stamped on each, while the MK2 has the same part number for either side. You can find the numbers stamped underneath toward the rear of the shielding, you need to remove the undertray and look from below the car.
