My friend sent me these times. He said they were published in Motor Trend. I hope this is not a repost. That's interesting. Though part of me wonders how the Mclaren F1 can be 4 seconds faster than it's nearest competitor. That seems a little extreme.
Easy, 612 has more hp and lots more tq....and DB9 isn't that fast at all. I'm surprised there's no Enzo on there, I remember it being right around the F1's number....
You forgot Ford GT 16.9 seconds! source: http://www.fordvehicles.com/fordgt/pdf/11769_eprint.pdf#search='ford%20GT%200150%20mph%20times' Erich
Not so suprised that the F1 is so far ahead as the list doesn't have any of its true competitors like the Enzo or Veyron alongside it! I guess they would give it a very close run to the 150 mark.
I am surprised at how slow the Saleen is comapred to the F1. P/W is better???? Maybe I am biased - My wife's cousin works for him... Dave
No Enzo? No XJ220? Keep in mind the McLaren was made in the early 90's, it had no nearest competitor except the Porsche 959 and the Bugatti? Sunny
These are obviously not same day results but... Saleen S7 TT 12.1 Ford GT 16.9 C6 Z06 17.9 Viper SRT-10 20.2 (2005) (on a side note, the saleen was from road and track, on a blistering day when other cars turned in comparatively poor performances to what they'd previously done i.e the [email protected] and [email protected]. Makes me wonder what it can do on the right day. 12.1, regardless of conditions, is stunning. 12.1 on a slick runway in high heat is doubly so)
how is it that the z06 has a better power to weight ratio than the Ford GT and it still cant manage to even match its times? They both have about the same gearing.
You can see that the ratios are quite different, but I'm sure any differences are simply because the GT's power output seems to vary wildly from car to car. GT Gear Ratios 1 - 2.61 2 - 1.71 3 - 1.23 4 - 0.94 5 - 0.77 6 - 0.63 Reverse - 3.135 Final Drive Ratio 3.36:1 Z06 Final-drive ratio: 3.42:1, limited slip Gear - 1 - 2.66 2 - 1.78 3 - 1.30 4 - 1.00 5 - 0.74 6 - 0.50
PTW and gearing are still no substitute for driver and how much tq is applied to the ground at the wheels through each gear real world, not just on a dyno plot with fans blowing in the front of the car. Sunny
