    Fine, thanks!

As beautiful as the P3/4 is, I still rather have the 166. I LOVE old Ferraris (and Alfas, and "etceterinis", and....)

Sal came up with that one but his lips are sealed as to where he found it. The part that attaches to the engine is even stamped with a serial #!
Note the very rare original factory original yellow indexing paint he used to mark the position of the timing chain gear.
In the background of the P4 wheels you can see J6 at Leguna.
The SF Shield is a hand painted test that Greg made to show me what it will look like when he paints it onto the car. (He's going to practice his lines for a while)
Note the period correct but non original switch we mounted to turn on the non correct electric rad fan.
The purists will really hurl when we mount the increadible, period correct Jeager rally clock Sal found. (It did come off a one of a kind Ferrari but his lips are sealed about how that happened as well)
Next week John is coming in and we're going to build a buck for the MM Nose.

in the photo showing the crankcase interior: what is the purpose of the bolted-on plates on the side and covering a portion of the interior? some sort of oil control?

That is the sump, not really the crankcase (IMO ;)) and yes I assume those plates are all about controlling oil surge.

In looking at the MM nose, I noticed that the hood scoop was slightly lower, a bit more squared off, and farther back than it is now. Not to make more work for anyone or anything...

I think the Motto body is still in Briarcliff Manor, NY, owned by Edmond Williman.

Here is a picture of a Motto bodied car I have. It also has a large diameter oval tube frame by Gilco. Years ago I talked with Stan Nowak about it.

It was built in 1949 and it's a Motto-Cisitalia spider corsa. I'm looking for its history in Italy prior to 1954. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Boudewijn,
I have reading somewhere that this body was put on a Jaguar (Still exist with Ferrari shields !) when 002C get the motto's body. It's true or false ?
If it is true the rear is very different that 002C actual...
If it is wrong from where come the body of this Jaguar ?
Thanks again for your maginficent pics...
    Gilles

Gilles, I think you are referring to the Ferrari-Jaguar Biondetti Special of Clemente Biondetti of 1951. It was based on a 166 chassis and had a 166 SC coach but I don't know the S/N of the chassis nor do I know where the 166 SC lookalike body came from. The engine type was Jaguar XKC, the company he drove for at that time.

Somewhere in my memory bank, I recall that Biondetti's Jaguar Special body was also done by Motto. Sort of a larger Cisitalia D46 (also by Motto).

I think you have the Gilco "Cisitalia 204" Spider Motto ex Paul Farago, Max Goldman? Could you give the S/N (just for the books)?

That would make sense esp. if he used a bit of 002C's SC body to do it as he would have it laying around after removing it to do his re body.

We're moving right along building the MM nose for 002C. We noted two interesting things. The MM nose will provide much more cooling as its grill inlet is bigger and the size of the "egg crate" looks best/right when you make it the same size as the badge/Cavallino.

We're giving J6 and 0846 a good clean for the Canadian International Auto Show.

Thanks! Your photo was the inspiration. We're going to make up the nose, fit it on the car and then cut the grill opening so that it looks straight. We also sent Borani the final measurements they needed to make us a spare set of wheels. My wheels match the original Ferrari shop drawings which is nice to know.

Yes, it is the ex Paul Farago, Max Goldman Gilco Spider Motto-Cisitalia, however I've never found a s/n on the chassis frame. This car has had two non-original motors over the years, and attendant changes to the frame, so maybe the s/n was erased.

I bought it in Pontiac, Michigan in 1973, and have spent the last 30+ years finding all the proper parts for it. About all I'm missing now is the Jaeger tachometer (rev counter). This has "zero" at 1 o'clock and "70" at 11 o'clock, and is a plain unit similar to that used in the Bugatti supercharged type 57, Talbot-Lago, and the early Abarth 207A by Boano.
I have an early Ferrari tach I'd trade for the one I need.

You appear to know this car. What can you tell me about it?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!
