Hypothetically, is it a "no brainer" to go to P.Russell and have them do the restoration? Considering that they have done it to the sister car.

If so, are you at liberty to discuss if the current owner has sent the car to Paul? As I would like to go by there and take a look.

AGAIN: please read my posts more carefully. This car, 0052 M, will NOT, I repeat: NOT, restored. In the past few weeks it has been partially disassembled and is being totally cleaned and checked mechanically. It will be re-assembled and then shown in UNRESTORED condition at the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic in Florida in January 2007. The new owner will NOT restore the car!! It will be very carefully preserved the way it is. Also: Paul Russell is not the only one who restored a 166 MM Barchetta Touring in USA. I just mentioned him as an example and because you can learn a lot about 0006 M on his website. Motion Products in Neenah/WI and Bob Smith in Gainesville/TX have also restored identical 166 MM Barchettas in the past few years. Also Butch Dennison in Puyallup/WA. Plus others in USA too.

Wow, I actually like the sounds of that. An original patina can look just as good, if not, better than fully restored. Sometimes beauty comes with age as in this case. :) These threads just keep getting better.

If we can get a picture of 052M next to 014I at Cavallino next January, that would truely be an amazing shot.

Do we know anymore about the uniqueness of the motor? I see the dry sump tank and large carburators but what else sets it apart.

Why did we never see a picture of 0016M since 50's ??

Is it a "barn find" like 0052M ???

If it's a "surprise" like your shots of 0052M, I'm ready to wait one more year...

Quite an amazing story. I always wonder about people who have the interest and the passion to buy a Ferrari such as this and then rarely, if ever, drive them. What kind of person was he? He actually got the car registered as late as 1988 apparently but the car was never driven on the road.

What an interesting original speciman. I hope that I get to see it in the metal some day.

    John
