Another Dino headed my way to Spicewood, Texas. The owner giving a last good bye as its loaded for the trip to the port of Rotterdam. Very original L model that has been living in Germany..

I put the wrong # in the title but can't figure out how to change the title. It should read #00898!!

Started taking the L apart for my new project. Original spec is Argento Autiel/Black. It's never been taken apart and all original with some paint work. Going back to original, might change some of the interior to liven it up a bit.

Jon, I restored #00962 so this will be fun to watch, this L was just 32 ahead on the assy line...
Good to see many original hose clamps in place.
I'd be interested to see a shot of the engine bay with the cooling hoses and clamps in place, this was a change over period from wire loop to Serflex.
Mine already had Serflex clamps on the large cooling hoses.

More disassembly today. The L model is so similar to the 206 in many ways. Many things unique to the 206 and 246 L model such as knock off wheels, trunk carpeting unique to these 2 models, ignition system with emergency switch, interior the same except for ashtray which doesn't have the squiggly lines engraved and doesn't have the same shift knob. Both have aluminum doors but the 206 has a different pulley system for the side glass. The vent glass frame is chrome on both the 206 and L model. The shift box is the same, the vent lever under the dash is the same. Seat belts are different. Both fiberglass floors are completely covered in Dino vinyl and tarpaper unlike the later models. The bumpers are the same on both and much thinner than later models. Also the end caps are not removable. I'll try to highlight more differences as I take this one apart.

Nice to see the original top coating still present on the cam covers! Hopefully in such a good shape that you can keep that original appearance instead of adding new paint.

    Best, Peter

Lately I've been doing the cam covers, end caps and oil filler with Cerakote. Way more durable than the original dow coating.

Great Jon! Which Cerakote do you use on the cam covers?

Are you selling the 208 fuel filler caps yet? Shift knobs?
    Please pm on prices.

    Regards, Alberto

Just out of interest does this car need full restoration? It seems from the visuals that it is in great original condition

I guess it depends on whose eyes you are looking through. It was a very nice original condition car, mostly original paint. It did have horrible synchros. For me its my hobby to make them as they came from the factory. So for me it's another fun project. I suppose it could of been cleaned up a bit and showed in preservation class. Thing is, shows are not my thing. So for me it's just another project.
