Looks like I have my hands full on this one!! Lots of metal work from rust and panel damage. There are a few things I will document as I get into taking it apart. Being the prototype i have noticed a few things before even digging into it. The front indicator lights are from an Alfa Romeo To meet USA requirements. No serial # stamped in engine compartment, it is on the steering column but not like a normal USA model. Time to start with disassembly after i kick the critter out which have been making it home. It is suppose to be Rosso Dino but when repainted in the 80's it now is red. The car has sat for over 20 years decaying. The owner got busy with career and kids and the Dino got pushed aside. The owner Mike recently retired from being an orthopedic surgeon, the kids are out so now is the time to bring the dino back to original. Mike is the second owner and never realized that he had a special car.

Has it been underwater? Many of the shots appear like that could have been a possibility.

Great car. Looking very original and not tampered with so it's a perfect starting point for a restoration. Even the ever so expensive jack is still present in the trunk. Thanks for sharing these pictures.

    Best, Peter

One of the tricky aspects will be figuring out what non-standard items you find are legitimately one-offs for this car (like the lights), and what is random aftermarket stuff that needs correcting. Very interesting project.

Funny how life gets in the way. It's nice to see you fall in love all over again, this time with the perspective of years and new insights from others. Good luck with this adventure; I look forward to following your journey.

I started with stripping down the doors. Whoever did the repaint in the 80's missed the correct color my a mile. You can see the Rosso Dino original paint on a spot inside the door. They also used all phillips head screws which as we know the Dino should have all slotted screws. They were all rusty and many had to be cut off. Another thing that was done previous with the phillips head screws was that they used bigger screws and drilled out the holes in the doors!! More work.

More taking apart today and fighting rust, mismatched bolts and nuts. Whoever did this 25 years ago obviously did not have correct tools as they just butchered everything. The serial # is on the steering column but this is the only one I've ever seen this way with the motor# also.

Really appreciate all the photos you take of your restoration projects. They have helped answer a lot of questions I had about details of the cars I work on that I was uncertain about.

Fantastic project and i am sure it will be top notch as usual like all others omgjon has done in the past. But are Dinos more prone to rust ( Russian steel of 70's and 80's ) or it just depends where they are from and how they were cared for? i don't see that much rust damage on the big V12s of the same era.
