I am strongly thinking of buying soon, and being infamiliar with the Murcielago, I was wondering if there are any noteworthy differences or improvments between the first Murcielagos and the later 05/06 year cars.
My preference is really for a Diablo 6.0 but an 06 model year Murcielago is available here and it seems to be a very good example...

$20 bucks, Roy Cats will say go w/ an 03.

I think that is some prudent advise from someone that knows all MY's.

2005 and up have improved brakes due to higher horsepower. Driveability was improved with upgraded software. Check the service records to see if clutch has been replaced. If replaced in less than 10K miles, someone may have been drag racing. That is hell on that four wheel drive.

Are you sure they have higher horsepower? first time I've heard it...

They do have better brakes (because the earlier ones are sh*t). from 2004 onwards E-gear was available. But who wants that:D

Yes Emilio, I do feel the same way, the 6.0 is what I would really like. The only reason I ask about the Murci is that a late 2005reg car has just come up for sale here in my country at a very reasonable price, and being an I rish car there is no import taxes, I have not yet looked at the car, just mulling it over in my mind at the moment,

Yes, I can tell you...the 02-03 cars are the best bang for the buck..

But then again...I am still a die hard fan of a good strong quailty 2001 Diablo 6.0 as a first choice.

Clutch no, brakes a bit...but still better of 02-06 putting on a set of upgraded brake pads NOT the OEM ones.

Correct, no more HP, as a matter of fact a properly tuned 02-03 car had better performance numbers than a 04-05 car..

as far as E-Gear...well we all know I only do 6 speed manual cars..but if I had to do E-gear..would go with o5, stronger software and product than 04 first year out E-Gear.

I have an 03 Murcie and absolutely love it! I have to agree w/Roy that for the money it is the best value! I have no problem braking and had just sold a 575 Ferrari- the lambo is superior!!

    Wow difficult choice.

I personally care about buying the car I care most about, not which is the most wise investment. The 6.0 diablo will definitely hold its value better.

I personally would go for the 6.0 in this case as I don't like the red very much on the murcielago.

I say test drive them both! Both are mechanically sound and shouldn't give any real problems (both build when ze germans had taken over already:)).

    Steve,

    that is HOT! :)

    i have no doubts
the black 6.0 is so much more beautiful than the murcie...i would not worry about the 20% more on the price,
i believe it will be worth 50% more than the murcie in a couple years ;)

Excluding money considerations, which model do you prefer between a Diablo and a Murciélago?

    It should matters!

Good luck, you have a wonderful situation!

Yep thanks, a nice dilemma to have ok. Which do I prefer.....for me the Diablo is The Lambo, I do like the Murci, but the styling of the car is somewhat of a letdown to me, that improved with the LP640, and again with the 670SV.
I have not yet driven a Murci, but am about to test drive the red car pictured above. I have driven several Diablo's over the years, from early to late SV and 6.0 The 6.0 impressed me completely, I was very surprised at how modern and well built it felt too.
One other option has however just become available,(recessions throw up opportunities) as I have just been offered a 2006 Ford GT in titanium with black stripes, a flawless virtually un used car. Getting more confused now!!!!!!
Also, what are opinions on Viola on a 6.0 Diablo?? I have never seen the colour in real life, I am not sure if the owner of the black 6.0 is going to commit to sell, but a strong quality viola 6.0 is about to be available.
    Thanks lads

that really is a tough choice. I'd lean murci. As much as I love the diablo it's starting to look dated. 20% less for the newer car sounds good to me. =)

The new clucth was not part of the car after 2004. The clutch is a weak apot on the Murchi. Not sure but mine had the new clutch put in 2006 and it was the new design. The old Murci egear cars would go through a clutch in 2300 miles by design. My freind loss his much quicker but he drove it hard like a corvette.

i only know the 2010 have the new chasis , cltuch and brakes. As Audi bought them they have been omproving the cars gradually. First the garlardo than the Murci LP540.

My recommendation is go with the newest car you can afford. I personally like the Galardo better than the Murci. It is more of a sports car versys touring. The Murci has a better sound.

    Good luck whatever you decide.

    Lee
