http://www.premierautohaus.com/detail-2002-lamborghini-murcielago-2468954.html What do you guys about this one? -Awais
Car looks nice over all. The blacked out tail lights make the car look more up to date. Driver seat looks a little worn and paint will probably show the miles. My concern would be that at that price, it might be a maintenance nightmare. I doubt that at that mileage the previous owner bothered to bring it up to date with scheduled maintenance before unloading it. As the seller doesnt seem like a high end dealer, I dont think they bothered to service it per schedule either. If agaisnt all odds, the car is up to par, the price is awfully decent. -Peter Oh
Just curious on why you would doubt the owner didn't bring it up to date with schedule maintenance? Not saying your wrong. But most people I know that drive their exotics everyday and put that kind of milage - spending on scheduled maintenance is usually no big deal for them - thus they buy it to drive, spend the money to keep it up to date, etc. There are several owners on this board that put lots of mileage and I would say those who put more miles is more likely to do the maintenance on a regular basis. Of course then you have people like me who drive there car very little miles per year and do two maintenance, filter, oil, etc per year. That is more the obsessive compulsive disorder types
Interior looks a little rough but nice price if she is clean. Tough to tell from pictures it could be a roach. If the major service has been done, you get a PPI, clutch is good or new, brakes rotors, tires and all service records, books, tools, no accidents etc. JUMP ON IT. So much car for the money
This car has been for sale for a long time. There's previous posts on here from like 6 months ago. From what I remember it belonged to the owner of the dealership, or something like that. Price is lower than ever now though. Also take a look at the overall dealer inventory... They've got: (4) Hyundai's (22) Ford's (8) Toyota's etc. etc. Oh, and one Lamborghini, a Murci with 28,000 miles on it for sale since like last year...
A car you really want to make sure checks out for sure. she does look warn even for the miles. As for the miles she is just getting warmed up
Yep, sounds like same car. And yea, the fact that all the other cars are Hyundais and Fords is not comforting. I called them yesterday and they said the 30K mile service was performed at a Lambo dealer and they have all the history and paperwork on the car. Granted it's a Murci, but it's an 02 and the mileage is a concern. For a similar price, one can pick up a slightly used 05-06 Gallardo, which is still an amazing car. We'll see...might go check it out in person today. -Awais
There is nothing wrong with 02 Murci's. I've seen a few 02-03 Murci's with 25-30K miles and they run and drive great. The mileage is not a concern. These cars run and drive better the more they are driven.
Most people are like you, me included. I keep all my cars immaculate. I could be wrong but I just suspect that after racking up close to 30K miles and deciding to unload it, it would seem a bit unlikely to spend several thousand, to bring it up to service schedule. Thats something that the dealer should take care of before selling it. I looked over the add briefly and didnt see anythig about service performed. It did say "as is" though. If it had everything done, it would be a strong sales argument that I wouldnt omit if I was the selling party. -Peter Oh
That dealer has that car for some time now, the car was discussed in the past about the mileage being non-consistent but the year will play into that factor. Walk into it carfully if you are serious.
The miles would not scare me. A bunch of sorry used car salesmen tearing the crap out of it for a year would worry me more. The price seems cheap to me still. I would shy away and pony up for something a tad higher up the ladder. I'd leave this one for the Josh's of the world.
This car, I was told by the dealership, was originally Lamborghini USA's car. This suggests that the car was used for magazines and journalists and whatnot. You can imagine what the car was put through.
Thanks for the feedback! Definitely taking a pass on this. I'd feel more comfortable getting into an 05-06 Gallardo. -Awais
no, no, no. Dont give up on the comments you read here from a no one one who has forst hand knowledge of this car. The Gallardo and Murcis are so different, you deserve to do some investigating on your own to get the true picture of this car. Yes, the miles are high, the dealer is suspect, the records are questionable. But, I am sure there are some garage queens out there that will become basket cases.
I'm not in a rush to buy (have to sell my 996TT first anyway), so if a good deal on a Murci comes up, I'll definitely look into it. I haven't done enough research on the Murcielago to know if it's the right car for me, or if I can even find one in my price range. I called this dealer and tried to schedule a time over the weekend to check the car out in person, but they said it was being garaged at the GM's house and they couldn't arrange a weekend showing. I'm in downtown Chicago and don't have time to go check it out during the week. The dealership hasnt call back to re-schedule the showing or try to arrange a weekend showing later in the month, so I guess they're not in a rush to sell the car.
Yeah, probably the GM of the parts department as a reward for selling his 10,000th customer parts they did not need.
Does this dealer specialize in high mileage junk cars? Almost every car in their inventory has over 100,000 miles on it. That should be a pretty good indication of what type os operation we are dealing with. On top of that, they have a "new car" section. LOL. As if they are a new car dealer and that's ever an option. I would not buy that Murcie from these tools under any circumstances. I think you're just asking to get hosed.
