Going to be doing a fair amount of travel between DC and NYC. Looking to get a luxury GT tour for the drive. If I could get any car I would get a Ferrari 550, but I'm going to need the 4 doors in the future.

I've narrowed it down to the following. Porsche Pano, which I just "like" the styling, and I know it will do what I want it for, but it's just not the look of the Italian sportscars. Lexus IS300, I know this would be the cheapest option, but again, it's just a Lexus. And the Quattroporte. BMW and Mercedes are out of the question, because like the Lexus, they are a "dime a dozen".

It looks like I can get a quality car for between 30 and 40K, which seems like a bargin considering thier price when new. But I have to be missing something I assume.

My question is are these cars capable of putting 100K on them? Like I said, I'm basically going to drive it every weekend from DC to NY. What are the problematic mechanical issues? I have a 360 now, which will present itself with minor gremlins here and there, but so far nothing major. I have no problem spending 5K on a major every 3 years, and a K on fluids every year, that comes with the territory. Just looking for what will cost me $$$ in maintenance.

I've got an 05' QP....picked it up with just over 3k miles on it 18 months ago and have put on about 5k since...it definitely has its electrical gremlins (as do all italian cars) but it has been pretty reliable....make sure you get one with a recently replaced clutch or super low miles if you're going for a model with the DuoSelect tranny...they're notorious for burning through clutches. IF you're looking for a highway commute car your best bet would probably be opting for an 07 or later model with the ZF autobox. I have a love/hate relationship with the DuoSelect..its great fun on an open road, but its very coarse at low speeds (e.g stuck in traffic.) maintenance is not cheap but not anywhere near 360 level, probably comparable to the Panamera. Get the QP, it will most definitely give you an issue here or there and its not going to have all the tech...but its gorgeous, comfortable, has excellent handling and really stands out
