    Interesting aside story,....I was the second highest bidder on the eBay auction for this chassis. I had an idea that it was "something" special and not just a "home built chassis". I thought It might have been a Gilco Maserati at the time......

    I bowed out at around $25K,...because I was out of my element. Tom was 100% in his element and told me his "limit" was $250K on the chassis, so to not feel bad, because I wouldn't have won in the end. True.

    "Opportunity favors the prepared mind." A bow to Tom.

    To this day,...I still look at every home built Devin or Corvair "special" with interest.

    Sometimes you get lucky on eBay with a once in a lifetime find. I've bought much smaller stuff, paid an arm and a leg and realized years later that I got lucky by snatching up the last one. Especially when it comes to antiques/historic stuff, the market will run dry eventually and ten years later there isn't anything to find anymore, for any kind of money.
