My trunk started reporting itself as open. The trunk is very closed but it just pops the open light. I have no idea where to begin. Thoughts? Thanks, dsd
Find the switch that turns on the trunk light, and sets off the warning. It is usually around the perimeter of the trunk opening. It may be out of adjustment or broken. The switch might also be on the trunk lid itself, so examine carefully.
I have an '03 as well. It needs a good solid close or the light will stay on. Use a soft cloth on the edge of the trunk and give it a little testosterone. That works for me.
Also, check to be sure you don't have a blown fuse for the internal trunk light. We ran into that exact same issue on an '04. The switch was fine, but the car thought the trunk was open anyway. Must have been related because when we replaced the fuse everything was fine.
Thanks all. It was a Fuse. Fuse F30 in the passenger footwell was blown and caused the behavior. Good call! -dsd
