That´s confidence! Or, perhaps a mistake. The car looks completely correct to me - much too good to be sold without a reserve. It will be interesting to follow this auction.
I agree, very original and complete... Blu Dino Metallizzato 106-A-72 / NUVOLA VM3015 (lovely original combination) regards Matthias
I am not sure that anyone really knows what's going on with this Dino, other than the wheeler/dealer. An earlier thread appeared in this section about this Dino, a Maserati, and a Daytona: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=319398&highlight=maserati Synchro posted what apparently is warning in that thread. Regardless, I hope a bunch of people bid on it! I'd like to see another Dino go for $225,000!!! Maybe my Dino GT needs a twin (except for the interior and this Dino has no A/C, but I have a NOS FACTORY A/C system (minus the top center vent) for it if the future new owner wants to put one in). Mark
How well does the Dino vintage A/C work? Always wondered if it would handle the Houston heat? Been reading FC - specifically 206/246 board for a while. The Dino is my dream car and I'm getting close to jumping in. Frank
Hi Frank, I am in Houston and a Dino guy. Don't plan on too much cool air unless it is cold outside. 2mail me at [email protected] if you are looking at something particular Shawn
There are ways around it, but a faded blue plate means some care and consistent registration/use over time. A good sign, not a black plate, but still good. FYI in CA the plate goes with the car. That is how a car is graded by the plate on it. If both front and back plates are in good shape one can tell the car has been cared for. Although I believe there are plate remanufacturers now. I like to see some good fading on a blue plate, from the early 80's. Must have both front and back.
Good day All, I have been watching Ebay car auctions for years and have seen some really "interesting" ebay bidding and auctions practices depending upon the integrity/honesty of the seller. In a number of cases shill bidding typically happens (i.e. someone the seller is associated with keeps bidding to increase the auction price and/or to prevent the car for being sold too cheap), or in unreserved auctions "magically" the item is sold just before the auction ends and so the seller cancels all bids. Now, I am not saying that this is or will be the case here, however, it would be interesting to see the result. The bottom line is to be aware of nefarious sellers and bid accordingly... further do not get caught up in bid fever, as at times later remorse can result. Cheers, Sam
Up to a buck 23. Its really hard to tell from the pics if the interior is faded or if its overexposed photography.
I was hoping it would stay in the 80K range. That would make for an exciting last 0.3 seconds. I was readying eSnipe. People bidding days before auction end. Would you guys do that? Doesn't seem like the moves of sophisticated Ebayers. It only helps the seller.
$80,000? You've got to be kidding. eSnipe or bidnap all you want, but my vote is $130,000 or more, all day long. Heck, it is a Dino gt, and it has 4 wheels and tires on the ground (and a spare), an engine, a transmission, electric windows, it is blue, and it was originally delivered to Ron Tonkin, the oldest Ferrari dealer in the U.S. What more could anybody want? Just hope there's no really bad frame damage or rust hidden somewhere in there. To all of the "WTB a Dino" BSer guys that drift in and out of this section - belly up to the bar and buy this car, or get out! Mark
I wasn't predicting 80K. I just thought it would be more interesting. I don't understand why people bid any ebay item up in the days before the auction ends. From the previous posts on this thread, there is something strange going on with this car, and it would have been nice to see AutoHausLosGatos squirm. And by the way, when the bid is 125K when you wrote your post, a guess of "130K or more" isn't exactly clairvoyance.
The asking price was $170k when the "barb find" cars were being run on eBay. I doubt that this is going to end up being the deal of the day/week/month/etc
Does anyone know why? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190530916388&viewitem= eBay Bid Cancellation Notice - Item Dear eBay Community Member, The bid that you entered for the item (190530916388) has been cancelled. You can view the reason provided for the cancellation by selecting the (bid history) link from the individual item page. Please be cautious if you are contacted about purchasing this item after the bid has been cancelled and as always avoid paying for your eBay item using instant wire transfer services through Western Union or MoneyGram as these payment methods are unsafe when paying someone you do not know. Regards, eBay
The incredible shrinking Dino! Was the whole thing a tease, like the low-ball Ferrari listings that are sometimes posted on e-Bay to get attention? Let's hope that we find the answer! Fred
No surprise; bidding didn't get where they wanted so they canned the auction. Might be a tip off to the seller's business practices.
When it comes to eBay, I have a hard time believing there is such a thing as a true No Reserve auction. Sellers always seem to end these things early.
TA DA-A-A-A-A-A !!! Sam called it. Expect it to be back, with early shill bids, from what I've seen many times.
Yesterday there were already bids about 123 000$, so really a reason for fear to not reach the right value. Maybe somebody made an offside offer an get it? But I agree most of the times it will be back on ebay again.
