04/05 Gallardo with Alcantara Interior

I had a 2000 Audi S4 with Alcantara fabric and after 3yrs+ and 50k miles as my daily driver it was 'pilling' (made little bitty balls of fiber) where my lower back (belt loop/waist band of my jeans) touched the back of the seat. You could see that it was wearing. Oh, the other thing was that I got shocked any and every time I got out of the car! It created a good static charge on me. The plus side was that it kept me planted in the seat with no sliding.

Having said that...I do have a Gallardo that is nearly all leather and the pure design of the seat keeps me from sliding, so the leather seat is not a problem. I like the look of Alcantara, but I'd keep in on surfaces that don't get touched a whole lot...my G has the Alcantara ceiling which is a nice touch.

I'd have to vote that Alcantara wears worse than leather from my experience. By the way, I always try to minimize wear on the seat, especially the side bolsters, so I'm very careful about how I get in and out of cars (leather on side bolsters doesn't seem to take crushing or rubbing very well).
