I found a 04 Stradale with 6k miles, garage kept, never tracked, clean carfax. Red/black suede interior. What is something like that worth. I think the guy is asking too much.

I know it's a bit ambiguous, but a CS is not a Challenge car, so your post there was moved here and merged.

Slow down ... do some homework ... there are no suede interiors and they are all 04's ... and don't call them 360's ;)

The suede is actually called alcantara. There's a lot of great info in the CS Market thread in this section. I know Oengus has a superb car he has got for sale in Ferrariads. Maybe consult with him.

Good luck on your search, this forum will be nothing but helpful

Chas, didn't you just buy this car back in February? Getting a Scuderia perhaps?

Tony, what's the serial number of the car in question?

No secret, he's jonesin' for a 330. Haven't you been following NNO?

Good move on the stock cats, those are pricey!

Hope this is not the same garage queen that has dried out/coagulated fluid in the brake lines and has back (sales) tax to be paid upon registration.

I will likely put the cats back, and hoping to also find a stock exhaust so everything can be restored back to stock. Nothing wrong with the current setup and it sounds very nice, but just personal preference.

Any suggestions on where to pick up a CS exhaust aside from getting a brand new from the dealer?

 Who would be responsible for the back taxes, old owner or new one? Would something like this show up on a carfax? Can you imagine showing up at DMV and being told you owe an additional $x,xxx for back taxes if you want to register the car?

And how does that work if the car goes to a different state? Does the state the car is in have lien on the title, or still hold the title?

If the title is clean there should be no issue when new owner goes to register car. Wheteher the car was registered or not by previous owner should not affect new owner as long as title in hand is clean. Thats my understanding of it anyway.

Last time I saw the car (January), it was still with Gary. And then on February 8th, you started the thread about buying it.

It's hard enough following one Chas around this site; keeping with two is impossible.

You know that the title will not be released by the issuing state if they haven't collected their taxes. No state is going to just look the other way on thousands of dollars in back taxes. Even if the owner has the physical title, I'm sure the state will simply place a lien on that car which will make it quite difficult for new owner to register in another state.

How much is owed on that car, do you know? It seems strange the taxes wouldn't be paid so that the car could be sold clean.

Here in California (before the legislature changed the law), you could have bought a car, take delivery of the car out of sate, use the car for 90 days (outside of CA), and bring it into California without paying the use tax. Now suppose you buy the car, but actually use it in CA for the first 90 days (before they changed the law) and try to claim the car was used out of state. The Board of Equalization doesn't believe you and demands that you pay sales tax on your purchase. DMV will still take your money to get is registered, but there's a tax lien now. This is but one scenario where taxes wasn't paid on a car. Whether a car can be sold "clean" depends on whether the buyer paid in full, or financed the purchase.
