I voted but thought I'd follow up by saying it's rarely used but extremely useful since sometimes you might find yourself in a situation where you're stuck in a single lane with people behind you, such as the exit of a restaurant that has a decline down to the street and you don't have the option of exiting at an angle; the lift may mean the difference between scraping the underskirt and scraping the paint. It's saved me a few times when I've heard a gut wrenching scrape even after lifting, I get out and check later and all I scraped was the black plastic on the underside of the car where I have no doubt that it would have caught paint had I not had the lifting system.

it is absolutely a need. i have double adjustable Motons custom made to adapt the front end lift. it's not just driveways, but when you lower the car from stock height the front end grabs everything.

The answer to this question will depend highly on the area that you drive in. For a few fellow G owners that I know, the lift is rarely needed since they live in the suburbs and the roads are fairly flat. For me, the lift is used daily to enter and exit my driveway in the city.

The lift was absolutely essential in my case. In fact, I had to get rid of my 2004 G for the sole reason that I scraped every time I went in and out of my driveway.

I'm in the burbs and in the city there are not too many really sloped places. I'm thinking I can get by without it as I'm not going to lower the car.

WELL IF YOU DECIDED YOU NEEDED IT LATER YOU CAN HAVE THEM RETROFITTED IN. NOT A DIFFICULT MOD. AND IF YOU DO I HAVE A SET OF 06 COILOVERS WITH LESS THAN 3K MILES ON IT. ALL YOULL NEED IS THE AIRBAG AND SWITCH.

Just my opinion, but it wouldn't matter either way to me. The Gallardo has small skid plates that seem to work fine in almost every situation. On the other hand, with the lift, eventually you WILL be fixing the leaking shocks.

I was having the same issue, buy the 04 and save a few bucks or go for the 05. With all the other minor upgrades and the lift the 05 is the hands down winner. Granted, I have had to had the distribution block repaired (under warranty) and it was NOT cool when it was on the fritz, I still wouldn't go without it. My car is lowered about 3/4" without the lift I would drag on every speed bump, driveway etc. If you wait you KNOW someone (Roy, GPI, RTGT) will have one for the price you are willing to pay. You already said you weren't allergic to higher mileage cars so there MUST be something in the pipeline.

If I can answer any questions let me know! You will LOVE the car!

I absolutely need it. I live in a large city and need it for undulating road, potholes, the odd shopping mall parking lot bump and just to get into my own driveway.

The first time I drove it home I scraped twice, once on a main road and the other entering my driveway (even at a slant) so after that I use it quite liberally. I leave it parked in the raised position (just too lazy to raise, lower, raise, lower in and out of the driveway) so I hope that doesnt cause any damage.

Can you PM me some information about who you worked with at Moton? I'm looking at upgrading my suspension on my 04 Gallardo. Thanks!

Sorta like a parachute. You probably won't need it. You hope you won't need it. Boy, it sure is nice to have if you need it....................!
(and I still have one small scrape on the black plastic under the nose)
