These are getting lower by the second........ I've been watching as I'm looking to poss. pick one up.
I'm sorry to Hijack but for you MB people. What is an E550? It didn't look like an E55. It looked outwardly like a normal E class sedan, but then, I'm not a MB freak.
There is no longer a 500 series all the 500 cars have been replaced with 550 engines and names. It is a 380hp+- motor that is almost as fast as an e55 I believe C&D got a 0-60 time of 4.8 for the E550. there is now an s550, cls550, SL550, and so on. With the exception of the SL55 all the new motors are 63 AMG. Hope this helps as it is very brief description. Also, Amenasce my father picked up a brand new 06 S600 for $87k from the dealer with 2800 miles on it back IN JULY. The car had a $142k window sticker, and wasn't a demo still 4 year 50k warranty applied. These cars are out there, and they are a great buy IMO ours has the 4 passanger seating which is awesome. About as close as you can get to a Maybach for a lot less. Later Erik
Not at all, I'm not complaining. I used to have a W220 also and it dropped when the 07's came out, you would not believe what they gave me for trade-in value. I am thinking about trading in the CL soon just because of the new bodystyle coming out.
if i'm not mistaken, the sl550 is a specialty car brought out by mercedes to celebrate 50 years of the sl class. it's a limited run of x number of cars, and other than that they still offer the sl500, but i'm not 100 percent sure of this.
+1 the SL 550 was made in a limited 50th anniversary model but it just had a special exterior color, wheels, and a plaque IIRC. All 07 SL are 550, 600, 55, or 65. Check out www.mbusa.com Erik
Nop. Its my friends car and he wants to get out of it. LFSC offered 66k$ which i found quite low. So he traded it in for a new body style S600 at Autohaus. No quattroporte for now...
+1 again the cars are essentially sold for less then a 500 at that point!! Keep in mind the 600 cost almost twice as much. It is scary but once these 12 cylinder cars are out of warranty noone wants to touch them. BTW they are not at home mechanic friendly either. There isn't even room for a hand to get anywhere but the top of the engine. It takes up the whole bay. Erik
I have a friend with a 2005 CL500, with 11,000 miles. silver on gray. $94,000 sticker, the HIGHEST bid we can get is $46,000. The dealer she bought it from who they buy a new Mercedes from every year will not even bid it! Mercedes are not what they used to be!
Sad, but very very true. Amazing to say, but their maintanace reputation is becoming similar to jaguar...
Interesting to see Repair Fear affect M-B pricing the way we've long seen in the Ferrari world. I wouldn't touch a used S-class without a serious c.p.o. warranty. My M-B dealer was outstanding, though. If the cars were as good as the service...
I used to have an S-class, and had no problems at all. Just standard brakes, and what not. To be honest I dont think I'd ever own any car that doesn't have a warranty.
