I've been looking for a 430 spider. Talking to the salesman (Maserati dealership) about the 07 he started telling me that the 07 has a much better F1 transmission than the 05. He told me that Ferrari made the trans for 05 and 06 then after issues with it they used an upgraded version built by a different company. After searching F chat, I'm reading a lot about a software upgrade that possibly made quicker shifts and hence prolonged the life of the clutch. Does anyone here know for sure? Many people say to stay away from the first year of any new model. Not sure if this is the case here. Any years better than others? What other issues should I be looking out for? Thanks in advance for any input.

I dont believe there was a difference between the 05 and 07s.

I have an 05 for over 5 years and 30k kms. I have not had any problems at all.

I think there is a way to improve the transmission with scud software, but I'm not 100% sure

08 onwards - there were a number of minor upgrades to the F1 system all of which are said to contribute to a smoother more reliable shift perhaps this makes the shift seem quicker than the earlier years as I don't think there is any documentary evidence of the later cars shifting quicker.

08 saw the introduction of CCB brakes and improved manifolds - this was more significant.

I have an 05... its new to me, but so far no issues... but I thought the shifts would have been faster and smoother.... I thought I read on here there was a update to make the older F1's shift better... but I have yet been able to get a confirmation if there is such an update
