in my ongoing search to replace my recently departed 360, i stumbled upon two really great cars. 06 gallardo and 06 430, price not that different. both great condition.

anybody driven both who can shed light on car reliability, e gear/f1 comparison, and overall feeling?

really, i wanted an lp 540, but just too much cash out at this point.

I have had both for extended periods of time. I am a Gallardo Fan more then a F430 fan. I like the way the Egear shifts, I like the all wheel drive, I like the radio better, I like that it is a bit smaller............ That being said an 06 Gallardo should be a lot cheaper then an 06 F430 and by that I mean 20 - 30k cheaper if you are comparing the same type of miles. You can get an 06 Gallardo SPYDER cheaper then you can an 06 F430 Coupe.

F430 F1 is way smoother than E-gear. You can get a software update for E-gear that helps out quite a bit however, but the 06 may include that already. I think you're going to get a 430 bias out of this post, and I'll ad to it. Personally, I dont fit in a G-car, and the 430/360 is much much more comfortable. Even money it would be a 430 all day.

Overall, the interior of the F430 in my mind is superior, especially if you opt for the daytona seats. I have sat in a number of Gallardos and I can't stand the seats because they are so hard and uncomfortable. I can do very long drives in my 430 and have no discomfort issues. It also has more space inside and the Gallardo has quite an intrusive center console and dash. Just my 2 cents.

i would go for the f430,gallardo is a great car but 430 is better imo,now if it were the lp560,than it would lp560,good luck with your choice.

Considering we are on a Ferrari forum and we are all fans of Ferrari.............I would suggest the F430 ;).

I am also considering a spider - Lambo or F430:

I rented a Lambo for a day in Vegas. The E-gear was OK, and the power was pretty good. Styling is very good. but my back was hurting when I got out. I did not like the seat.

I am planning a trip from Miami to Key West in March, and was considering renting a F430 for a week as a trial before plopping down $175-$200k. But they want up to $8k for the week. Found another place for $6500.

I was going to ask the same question, but as you so well put it, we are on a Ferrari forum.

"No!!!! buy the G car, it is much better." ha ha ;)

My only comment is with regards to the price. The Gallardo should be MUCH cheaper! This could mean that the Ferrari is WAY discounted on price, or the Gallardo is overpriced.

If it is that the 430 is underpriced, well then, as long as there are no issues, then I would get the 430 because you probably won't lose any money on the deal.

I have a 430 spider and love it. I have ridden in several Gallardos... I would like to have one of them too... I think they look a little more exotic (the coupe) I dont like the look Gallardo spider.

So everything being considered, I basically had the same decision back in November... and I went with the F430.

I owned a 06 F430F1 from new and now have a manual 06 Gallardo coupe, i would describe the Ferrari as ballerina and the lambo a bull in a china shop.
driving dynamics on the 430 is way better but the exterior styling on the lambo makes up for it's short comings.

    I have both.

    '06 Gallardo Spider
    '07 F430 Coupe

They are very different cars which I use in very different ways.

Without going into too much detail... b/c this topic has been brought up and addressed a zillion times before:

    - Gallardo: Better daily driver. Front-end lift, rear-view camera, heated seats, MUCH better stereo, electric folding mirrors. I think the styling of the Lambo is more aggressive and more interesting than the F430.

    - F430: Although the same "speed" as the "G", the Ferrari feels faster, shifts better and has WAY more room in the cockpit and actually has storage. The Lambo really has none.

Women are drawn to the Lambo.
Guys are drawn to the Ferrari.

Just this week, I swapped out the exhaust on the Lambo for a LOC exhaust (OMG!!) and it's going in for new wheels next week... the car will be murdered out black/black/black/black.

    I'm leaving the Ferrari stock.

You can't go wrong any day, but someone said earlier... these cars should not be priced the same. You should be comparing a G Spider with the F430 coupe.

Good luck, let us know what you decide to do.

Do what I did turn it in RWD, it makes 1000% difference, and one of the reasons the 430 feels faster is the steering and the weight, going RWD it makes the steering feel like the 430, and though you will loose an additional 135lbs the 430 will still be lighter, but the gap will close.

I've considered this, but figured the dash would be lit with every conceivable CEL code and other warning light the car could display.

Is this a problem on yours?

How much work (hours/$$) did this take.

The new LOC exhaust on the car weighs a fraction of the stock system. I lifted both and simply couldn't believe how heavy the stock system was.

    I have a F430 Stick and a Gallardo Supeleggera E-gear

    simple answer:

LP560-4 better than F430, and F430 better than 06 Gallardo

I think the LP560-4 should be compared to 458 Italia..

and for track car, I will use Superleggera

No codes, no lights, though you do need to rebalance the suspension, I only bought the car because I knew it could be done. A good shop can do it in less than 4 hours should cost no more than $500. I owned a 430, and with the weight loss, from the exhaust, and RWD, and the feel of the car in RWD, it is as good as my 430 was, maybe better.

I had that choice and picked the Ferrari. This is like blonds vs. brunettes. It is a matter of taste.

I plan on getting 1 of each.... (Gallardo and F430) someday... in the meantime, been working on a way to have a brunette and a blonde at the same time too! :)
