    Details:
2007 430 F1 Spider warm and at any time, seems sluggish on take off.It just takes about 5 feet to kick in.
This might be normal but my 08 SL and previous cars all seem to have no hesitation at all.
I bought the car about a month ago with 1350 miles and have 1600 miles now.
    Does this seem normal?
Should i have the car checked out?
I am not too concerned but this has to be the first used car i have purchased.
    Thanks in advance
    Eric

I'd have it checked out at the dealer, or at least have the service manager take it for a spin with you. Oh, and great to see the Ammoman has a Ferrari! ;) I'm familiar with your site, as I am both an avid gun collector and firearms instructor.

You should have the car checked out. Certainly. However, There may be the "garage Queen" syndrome at work. These cars do not like old gas. In winter, I keep my 575 full to prevent condensation as I did with my 360 and my Lusso. If the weather is bad and I cannot drive for several weeks, the beast tells me so by idling rough and hesitating. Driving down the fuel and adding fresh makes the nasties go away. That could be the problem.

I thought that myself.I did get the first tank filled the other day and still seems to run the same.
It runs like a bat out of hell after the first couple of feet.
I will have to check the closest F-car dealer to me and swing by.
    Thanks

Just a question; do you get the same phenomenon in all manettino settings? I think the take-off is extra soft in the rain and snow settings. Try the Sport setting if you haven't done so already.

Otherwise I'd give it an "Italian tune-up" (a proper thrashing) and see what happens. After that goto the dealer if it's the same. I tried a 430 and it smoked the tyres from standstill in race mode with no hesitation at all...

    Eric,

I have Barrett (82a1), where do you shoot yours? I'm outside Philly and have not found a range long enough.

    100% clean bill of health.
Patrick at Algar in Philly, said they are all like that with the traction control on.
He said to try it with the TC off and i will soon.He also did 2 "campaigns" and changed all the fluids.
He said very nice things about the car and even suggested i move up to a 599 :)
They are a wonderful outfit and treated me like i had purchased 4 or 5 cars from them and that was my first visit.
Nice to get service like that.
$1100 out the door and i am very pleased.

What should it cost for a complete "go over" and such?
That might bother me on my Escalade.

That is exactly what i thought.
    "Peace of mind"
With tax i paid $321,000 to my door on the car and i wanted a dealer opinion.
It was worth every penny to me.
I also got started on some service records.
    Thanks

    What should it cost?

No doubt Patrick recognized normal operation with the traction control on/off after a 10 minute drive.
The excess 9 minutes would have been time to allow a proper warm up.
IMHO, this 'service' should have been gratis for a new (potentially a 599) customer.

If the fluid change was mutually discussed then it should cost 'shop rate' per your previously agreed value.
    Whatever that was.....

Is 1100 an appropriate value for your car's oil change?
Don't know - I buy Mobil 1 at Wal-Mart in a 5qt jug & get my filters by mail order.
No FCar dealers in Alaska and few, if any competent Fcar wrenches

If the fluid change was done without your prior consent - I'd suggest telling them to take a hike.
If the fluid change etc. was done without your prior discussion of scope & cost - I'd say Algar is taking full advantage of their good fortune.

Having worked in the industry... I have see a lot of abuse from dealers & shops. As you can no doubt sense, I have little tolerance for anything less than full, up front disclosure. IMHO - disclosure must be provided even if you had not specifically requested it of them. If work progress indicates any increase from that previously agreed value - I would expect a phone call before any of that cost is incurred. Presumably this is also state law in most places.

To me, THAT is good service... whatever the cost.

    Best Wishes,
    Vince
PS: Of course, that needs to be paired with a competent wrench in the back room!

Sounds like you know much more than myself.
I am good at one thing.Selling ammo.
To me, it's not what you do, it's what you know. The shop that is.(rent, labor, costs and lack of inventory)
I really don't mind if they have to charge a ton for service. It's nice to have them there and in business.
Should there be a serious issue, i want to have a relationship with them and have it worked on in a timely manner.
Might even want to buy a car from them in the future.
I also want to be fair.I have not even looked at the bill.I had the car flatbedded to them and it's on the way home by flatbed.(towing not included :) )
I will scan and post the bill when i get to see it.I just repeated what he told me and may have omitted details.
    IMHO i was treated fair.
    I do appreciate your opinion.
    Stay tuned.
    Thanks
    Eric

If the car was due service, 1100 is appropriate. You better not use Mobil 1 in it, at least while you still have a warranty. Ferrari insists upon Shell, and you'd better use it, if you value the warranty. These cars don't have belts, so the day of a 10k service is done, but you will spend 1k a year (if you drive 5k a year or less) for the service.
