    Irony was intended.

I understand the importance of keeping the record straight but sometimes perspective is gained through humor.

While race cars aren't usually considered to have great social import they are cultural artifacts reflecting the times they came from and the men who made them.
As such their integrity should be respected. No matter what we'd like to think they'll outlast us.

A bit different from one that can have 70,000 lbs dropped on it and deflect less than one halve of an inch.

If money is no object, why not keep the 350 Can Am as is and commission Norwood or whomever you wish to build you a P4. I know people would decry that as a replica, but its not that different than whats been proposed.

There seem to be degrees of legitimacy in some people's minds. Personally I think like virginity it's binary.

I know that being someone who'll never have to face the choice it's easy for me to say. Every man has the right to his property, as I have to my opinions ;)

Not only is the nose changed on 0844 but the entire rear bonnet was cut back and shortened behind the rear wheels.

I have some amatuer unpublished pics from some friends who saw the car at Bridgehampton in 67 that give some great interior details and unusual body details. Many mods were made.

I know several times it was discussed about chassis mods but I would not know however, the ones I can think must have been done were to shorten the overall length where they removed length from the rear of the body? The wheelbase should still be the same but its possible they moved that in a little as well like they did on 0846.

Here is a link that shows the rear body and you can see how much was taken away

Hi Jim: The first photo is from Issue 3 of the Official Ferrari magazine. Is this 0856?

The 2nd photo I took at the Quail. I found this going through photos on my iPhone. Is that you in the picture in the baseball cap? I looked all over the place for you...... saw the Baja Boot.... but didn't get a chance to meet you. Hope you are well. David

It must be the economy. ;) The $1.7m was referring to a 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso Competizion from Ecurie Francorchamps in a photo above the P4. The P4 photo was from The Official Magazine from December, 2008, in an article by Adolfo Orsi called A solid investment. I believe P4 value would be in excess of a GTO, if Mr. Stroll ever sold it... probably not happening. The Ferrari Magazine is online now with an article on that very car. Here is the link. Have a great evening. David

The problem is the 350 Can Am were completely unsuccessful and IMO (anyway) ugly. They were the white elephants of the prototype Ferraris.

I do though hope the original body is kept and the chassis is NOT modified in this conversion.

Well in my opinion this particular car didnt have much success in Can Am but Hawkins did manage to win a few races with it in other series. It would be a massive shame if this car is lost in its current configuration and whilst I respect people have the right to do as they please with things they own I do think converting this back would be a mistake as a unique car would be lost.
