    Hi

Look very carefully and Freeze the image. I'll check an original still tomorrow but I think the centers may be gold.

I did. In the flash they seem blue and in a still too. Look close to the wheel nut of the front wheel. In the flash there is even a hint of the darker plate behind the nut. Well, the quality of the film is poor although the film is very nice...

At the Galleria Ferrari I saw a Maranello Concessionaires Daytona a few years ago. This car had blue rims and blue spokes too. More or less the same period.

    Hi

Thanks to all. After carefully looking at an original color photo of 0854 at rest at Brands Hatch by Rodger Dixon I agree that they were all blue.

Thank god! There are already four layers of paint on my poor 1:18 rear wheels...(gold base, then blue, then gold center and then blue center; they couldn't take another layer).

I had a small thought about the P4's some ten years ago:

0844: a hidden red CanAm racer
0846: a project of a red Spyder thought to be a replica
0848: a plain red Berlinetta with no Scuderia Filipinetti livery, not even a racing number
    0850: a plain red Berlinetta
0854: a plain red Spyder used for fast motoring on public roads
0856: a red Spyder with blanco racing number plates
0858: a hidden red CanAm racer
0860: a plain red Spyder used for private racing
0900: even this 'original' replica was red

Nowadays the P4 is alive and almost all of them in original outfit!

    Hi

    That's a different car P4 0860 #6. At Brands 412P 0854 was #9.

I use 'P4' as an overall name.

    0844 Berlinetta was 330 P3, then 412 P Berlinetta, then 330 Can Am spyder, is 412 P Berlinetta today
    0846 Spyder was 330 P3, then 330 P3/4 Spyder, then 330 P3/4 Berlinetta for a brief period, is 330 P3/4 Spyder today
    0848 Berlinetta was 330 P3, is 412 P Berlinetta today

0850 Berlinetta was 412 P Berlinetta, like today
0854 Berlinetta was 412 P, converted to 412 P Piper specials (Berlinetta & Spyder configs), then 412 P Spyder, is becoming 412 P Berlinetta today

0856 was 330 P4 Berlinetta, converted to Spyder as it is today
0858 was 330 P4 Berlinetta, converted to Spyder, converted to 350 Can Am as it is today
0860 was 330 P4 Berlinetta, converted to Spyder, converted to 350 Can Am, converted to 350 P4

0900 was built with 0860 Spyder body

I wish 0858 to be a Berlinetta today

    Regards,
    Wouter

out of interest whats the difference in value between a 412P (as no P3 exists in its original form nowadays) and P4

I think it very much depents on the car in question.

0844: A lot of racing nowadays. After it's recent crash even more non original bodyparts will be added. Famous car, third in Daytona 1967.
0846: Jim added even more history to this famous chassis by rebuilding the car that seemed gone. That and excellent race results will add value to the car. First in Daytona, excellent race in Targa Florio 1967 up to crash.
0848: As a P3 in 1966 this chassis achieved very good results. First in Monza and Spa. Crash at Le Mans. Nicely rebuilt as a 412P for 1967 and after that season a Bardinon/Perfetti car. Pretty original. I think it will follow 0808 when it comes to value.
0850: Harshly raced by Mairesse but failed to take part in the important races. No BOAC 500, no Le Mans 1967. L'Ecurie raced 0856 with #24 and a yellow striping because the repaired 0850 got involved in a road accident on top of the transporter to Le Mans. No racing for this one in 1966 because it didn't exist as a complete car back then, just like 0854.
0854: Value will increase by rebuilding it to 1967 BOAC 500 specs. An excellent choice. This car did a lot of racing in Africa in the hands of David Piper. It showed some good results. A podium runner at Spa 1967 with Bianchi and Attwood driving.
0856: Some say the best car in this series. Pretty original P4. Only underwent a factory Spyder convertion in 1967. Second in Daytona, first in Monza, third in Le Mans. Was in the skilled hands of David Clarke for more than a decade. Concours winner, even in 2007 at 60th anniversary at Maranello. Unbeatable when it comes to value.
0858: The only 350 CanAm configurated car left. I think people love the original P4 shapes more. Second in Monza and Le Mans. I should rebuild it in Monza 1967 outfit. In Le Mans it was the losing car to the Ford of Gurney and Foyt. In Monza it was the second Ferrari behind Amon and Bandini.
0860: Like 0848 a Bardinon car. Was second to the Chaparral 2F at the BOAC 500. Received a non original Spyder body after its Can Am history. In terms of value, I think this car will follow 0850.

Each of these cars is famous. I think prices will be more or less the same. There is also something like a desire to own one of these cars when one is available in the market. Maybe this will pull the history somewhat to the background.

All these cars together scored eleven podium finishes over 15 races in two championship seasons.

    Wouter Bekker

I think we should fit part of an aluminum road sign, for historical accuracy........

How about an 'Austin City Limits'??????? :D :D :D

It was a take down.......I didn't actually unbolt it...from the mid 70's ..Population 300K or so.......

I'll look, I may have some older.....;)

    j/k....thanks for sharing the adventure!

    Hi Jim,

Looks very nice indeed! Which colour are you going to choose for the inner door panels? Black, red or plain aluminium?
