"Scintilla" (spark) was the funny nickname of Giuseppe Tramonti. He was the technician (not an ingenieur) of the Magneti Marelli assigned to the Scuderia Ferrari . The man standing at the left in the picture is not "Scintilla", that is the second (only the head visible) from the left . Ciao Andrea
Do you have some webcams installed in your shop to be able to watch all day what is going on? I wonder how you can get any work done at your office between watching the webcam and posting on ferrarichat So what is the link to the webcam...
Thanks. The first time I saw that was in summer camp in 68 or so. What you might call a seminal influence.
What a joy it is seeing this car being brought back to life, I simply have to try and see this car in the metal when its finished. For me the 412P has to be one of the most stunning Ferrari's ever made, I will never forget the first time I saw one in a book, I was all of 10 years old but seeing those curves and reading how during the 60's this very car 0854 set a land speed record here in South Africa, 189 mph.
Hi Jim. I have a question for you. The front windshield has a very special curvature (is that the right word?) at the top. Have you been able to find a manufacturer to make that special windshield? Sorry...can only express it this way...but I´m sure you know what I mean. Best: Staffan
This was discussed by Jim for #0846 as her had a new laminated windscreen made of the correct shape. Pete
BTW Jim, what's up with J6? I see the motor on the stand and the panels on the floor.. where's the beef?
Jim's idea of "routine maintenance" has always seemed to be a bit more comprehensive than most people. >8^) ER
The motor on the stand is an original spare or the one that actually ran at Le Mans ... and yeah assume some sort of routine maintenance is happening. Pete
And also a little bit less 'comprehensive' than some. It's funny, I remember being able to keep track when I first joined here but between J6/002C/0854/P 4/5C/0846/Dino's/'57's etc it's all starting to blend together a bit. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome.. but also a little disconcerting to realize that you completely missed a very significant car that was in pieces (because it was next to another significant car in pieces).
