Auction houses are rarely all that accurate or completist when it comes to details.

Interesting 1970 classified advert for 0854. Says bored out to 4.2 litres and recently factory restored. It never went back to the factory AFAIK.

    Really ?
I find this ^^ quite odd since it seems to suggest the lifelong personal experiences by likes of DRW46, Marcel Massini, Rifledriver, etc, somehow equates to less “research” than that of someone seemingly without any, let alone extensive, hands on experience with the subjects he’s believed to be an expert on.

Suggest you sort out personal matters through personal channels. No need to drag up a four months old post to have a jab at another member. More and more threads on Fchat are used for petty personal vendetta's, unnecessary. End of story

No, it doesn't suggest that in any way. I said Steve "does more homework before he posts than probably anyone else". DWR45, Marcel, Rifledriver and many others don't need to do any homework because they've lived it first hand for eternity (and are gracious enough to share their knowledge/experience with all of us). Steve (presumably) did not have a lifelong background, but he's been researching extensively for a long time and has acquired a lot of knowledge along the way. He has posted concrete information to support his claims over many years and he was challenged by others the entire time, so much of his information has been battle tested. He can't repeat every tidbit of his findings over and over again to those who can't be bothered to look at the information he already provided and that has already been heavily debated. I don't always agree with Steve or the way he approaches discussions, but you have to have your head buried in the sand to not recognize that he has done his homework on this topic, very likely more than anybody else.

Thanks for expanding and perhaps you didn’t intended, but probably due possessing one of those different/diverse ways of considering or viewing things you mentioned making this forum interesting is what made it suggest such to me.
