This is to be released later this year. I had hoped it would be a little better than it appears to be from their photos. Note that their photos always accurately represent the models that they produce, so I highly doubt that any changes will be made or that the shape problems can be blamed on the photos.

Photos shown below for comparison. One of the model (first photo), and one of a real car. I know they are not the exact same angle, but are very close, and do clearly show what is right and what is wrong. I have also looked at many other similar photos, and all confirm the problem.

There is something very subtly wrong with the model. It looks pretty good from the cowl (windshield) forward. However....from rear window to tail end seems to curve too much. Gives the impression of being more of a 'soap bar' in appearance. Just missing on that area of detail throws the elegance of the model off. The roof line might also be off slightly. I felt there was something not quite right with the model when I first saw pictures of it. There are certainly other details that are also slightly off, but those are within acceptable ranges for the low price these will sell at; unfortunately the rear body shape is a deal breaker for me.

Amazing to me that they could do so well with the bodies on their 1:12th Aston Martin DB5 and Jaguar E-type, but screw up a relatively simple area on the less shapely Daytona. Looks like I will continue to wait for a good 1:18 or 1:12 scale Daytona model…. not going to hold my breath on that.

I think to roof line is off. Worse then that the sills are all wrong IMO.

I am very familiar with the 1/8 Amalgam Daytona's, which do look great, but those are very expensive - an entirely different item, and larger scale too.

Very, very nice, but as Marshall pointed out, it's a completly diferent price range..in fact it's 40x more expensive then the Gt spirit!!!
Ps: but of course it's also 40x more detailed!!

I'd say the Amalgam is only about 20x more detailed since it's also a curbside model.... nothing opens.

Pedro, the sills are the lower body panels just below the doors; also sometimes referred to as 'rocker panels.' That said....I don't see much wrong with them on the model, but would have to see it in person. I've looked at other angle views of the model and the sills look pretty good. They are difficult to see well in the photos due to two factors; Red color and lighting - all things blend in this way. Also photographing anything on a white background as catalogs like to do, causes the model and color to wrap around itself at points and softens some shapes, etc. Regardless, the sills are a minor offense compared with the rear.

That's really to bad, but I might buy one anyway and try to correct depending on what the final photos look like. The Jaguar XKE was also not perfect, but it could be fixed. I want this Ferrari so I can do the 1971 Lemans NART car(I like race versions). I hope it's good enough to use as a good base like their XKE.

It could be the photo but I think it should have a more definitive crease. But of course you have to see the model in a 3/4 view to be certain.

I looked at two different 3/4 views and the crease is there along with angle inward. Though it may not be exact, it looks to be close enough.

Tom, I think the Jaguar was a much better base to start with. I was also thinking about buying one of these Daytona's and correcting the rear & roof, but the rear fix would require a lot of work....much more than I want to bother with doing for myself.

I did buy one of the Jag's and one of the Aston's for myself. Though neither are perfect, they are very good, and do look good on the shelf. Tires are just a little undersized on the Jag, but I can live with them.....for the moment!

Lusso123: If you decide to offer real wire wheels and better sized tires for the Jag, I'm interested.

David, I have thought about it, but a set of correct wheels and tires made the way I have them done would be expensive.
