Hey Tonberry, I would seriously wait and see what the Kyosho is like as I had serious problems with my Tamiya Enzo as the rest of the gang know (they are fed up with me giving it abuse) but i feel it is important that other folk know the problems experienced. I have about 10 or so 1/12's and the Enzo was the worst quality of all, bits fell off all over the place, do a search and you may find some previous threads that explain all. I ended up getting a third one sent to me and even that was faulty and I'm not as fussy as some as these guys when it comes to detail. The prototype Kyosho didnt look as good as the Tamiya when it came to tyre size etc but wait til the real model comes out to see what that is like and if the same i would get the tamiya but you are taking a chance. The model really shouldnt be picked up and observed as it will fall to pieces. All my other models are perfect especially the Autoart ones. Best of luck. Matthew
Mathew, Thanks for the reply. I happen to really like the Tamiya Enzo. The quality is awesome on the car and have noticed no "quality" related issues like some people have within this thread. The car came together very easily as well. I have loved Tamiya products for more then ten years because i used to "race" their RC (remote controlled) 4wd cars (Hotshot, Bigwig, Avante etc.) with much success. I heard about Kyosho coming out with a Diecast version of the Enzo but to me, it doesn't have the same "Feel" as the real car. Diecast seems closer to a "metal" car or "aluminum" (real life car) and the plastic car of the Tamiya brand is closer to the Carbon fiber body feel of the real thing IMO... I have built up carbon fiber for aircraft and the "feel" is more plastic in nature then metal. I think thats why Tamiya went with the plastic body: Because its closer to real life feel, carbon fiber, on the actual Enzo.
I love my Kyosho F40,Z8 and the Minichamps F1. Please let me know if there is a 1/12 McLaren LM available for sale...and BTW who makes it. Is the 300 SLR a good purchase ? Hi, you have a very nice collection. I have 11 cars in scale 1:12, also the 300 SLR. It's a nice model and the quality is ok. I paid 75 euros for it some years ago, but today on Ebay, you can buy it for between 40 and 60 Euros, i think.
I got tired of waiting for the Kyosho 1:12 Enzo, so I took the plunge on the 1:12 Enzo from Tamiya, it just arrived at work this morning. I hope everything goes well when I assemble it this evening...
Revell made a 275 GTB/4. It is a plastic kit, available in red. But I plan to repaint it in yellow. I own in 1/12: - Enzo Tamiya in red - F50 Tamiya in red - two 250 GTO from Revell ( i would like to modify one in a 250 GT Breadvan ... lot of work ) - 275 GTB/4 Revell (to build) - Testarossa 1984 from ... (don't remember). Also to build. I'm waiting for the Kyosho Enzo, FXX ... and I have also to buy the F40
No. It is Monogram ! The base is good (even if still didn't look very close at the pieces, the box is still parked somewhere in my house ). It is also a plastic body. So I think a good paint will be mandatory.
It came together pretty well.... The front clip-assembly seemed very fragile, and was hard to fit in conjunction with the nose, more difficult than I was expecting. There was quite a bit of creaking when I was fitting it. The part that I thought was going to be the hardest, getting the engine cover on without breaking the hinges, went on without any issues at all. Once I got every thing out of the box, I noticed the passenger side turn signal light had come off, as well as the the drivers side outter exhaust tip... the turn signal was easy to reattach. The exhaust tip had gotten loose inside the engine compartment and it took me a bit to fish it out (being very careful not to damage anything else). Once I got it out, got it reattached with no issues. Overal impressions: Good detail, and apperance in a package that seems to be very fragile... But it went together with no major isssues and looks good with my 1:12 F40 and F50... I took some pics, I'll try and get them posted here in a bit...
It is same to me.... as Monogram and Revell is a joint venture.... Monogram is doing the North America market, Revell is selling for Europe Market and a few Asia market. The mold is the same so far...
Pics... I didn't get a pic of it without the tail pipe on, but there is one of the side-marker... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is great to hear....... Mine came together pefectly and i even purchased the display (tamiya) case to go along with it. Looks awesome (like a museum piece)..... Ill try to post some pics of it.
I looked at the Tamiya display case, but it was a bit pricey I thought... Aside from that, I've got my 1:12 F40 and 1:12 F50 in Autoart cases, so for the sake of consistency, I ordered an Autoart case for the Enzo as well... who knows when it'll be here though. I would love to see some pics of yours, especially the Tamiya case.
I am a bit disappointed that everybody these days seems to concentrate on the diecast stuff. Just the Revell Modell 275GTB, F40 and Testarossa seems to have attracted some people. Well, there is more, like the unique 312B from Tamiya and the 312B2 from Protar (if you can still find it) Also all 312T models (T1-T5) are available as superior kits. (and not even too expensive) as well as the 126C2. Recently Revell produced the F2002 at a decent price and which with the help of aftermarket parts can be turned into a good model. For those with the fat wallets I would advise to visit the site of MG models which have fantastic stuff including a P4.....(you can even buy that as a complete car) Gentlemen (and girls) use your hands from time to time to be a bit more creative....
following my previous post here is a 'put together' of all my big scale ferrari models, showing first row l/r The Protar 312B2 and the Tamiya 312B ( nice to see how different modelmakers interpreted the size of the tyres) both cars are 1/12 Then there are three Fujimi 1/16 cars (I have a 288GTO too, but that is lying around in pieces) Second row l/r The monogram testarossa, Tamiya 312T, Protar 312T5, Tamiya 312T4 and the Tamiya 641 (all in 1/12 scale) Finally at the back the Revell 275GTB (1/12) I left the door open in order not to show the very poor fit. This was a 20$ kit and it showed...) Still sitting in the to do pile: The Protar 312T2 and T3 and the F40. (1/12) I still have spare kits of all the Tamiyas, (except the 641) So for those who want to go for something different, (and have the time and patience) there are other opportunities. and for those who are prepared to spent additional money for even more exclusive stuff http://www.mgmodel.it/news_eng.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a question, if something is broken on the Ferrari Enzo, is it easy to get it fixed by Tamiya? Will they send out replacement parts or what happens? Becuase I really want the model, but since i live in Sweden i will have to import it and then if something is broken i have no "real" store to turn to, since they dont sell those cars here. Thanks
