It's actually more expensive to do it that way, and they look more clear than plastic. My big problem with them are the errors they make. The worst feature is the front grill wich is also photo etched and flat.
I understand and certainly it would be a better model if it had window trim that was more dimensional, but... that better/higher level can not be expected for the very low price of around $400 each. This model offers a lot of bang for the buck. For better quality and higher level of detail the price would need to be higher. Top Marques, who I am not a fan of, do have a formula and target audience and price point they are always aiming at, which seems to work for them. There are two things I really don't like on this and all the Superfast models they are making. (1) It's RHD, and I think that was a stupid choice given that only a few of the real cars are RHD. I want one with LHD. (2) I hate the two outside rear view mirrors.
Your knowledge and input is most appreciated Marshall, thank you. We would love to see what projects you are working on.
Thank you David! Currently one main major project, several others waiting. It's a green car... Bentley Speed Six, 1930 Le Mans factory team car, famous "Old Number 2" 1:12 scratch built. Here are a few pics, but there are many more on my website, and some videos on my Instagram and YouTube channel. This model is further along now than shown in any of the photos & videos... it's the most complicated and challenging model I've ever made. Thank you for sharing Marshall; the work so far looks stunning! The suspension and fuel details are something to see, and scratch built! You are a craftsman in our midsts LOL
For those who may come along later I'm going to repeat the information previously posted that Top Marques have a horrible reputation for not delivering paid-in-full pre-orders placed through their site and then failing to respond to customers at all. It's extremely bothersome that retailers apparently have no difficulty in getting these models while customers who trust the manufacturer can't get what they paid for.
Yes, agreed. Collectors need to know to avoid as many pitfalls as possible. With regard to Top Marques... only buy these from a dealer/retailer, Not directly from Top Marques.

The Ottomobile 1/12th scale Espace F1 minivan should be out this month, one year late. Even this minivan sounds better than the current crop of F1 trucks, I mean cars.

Just to pick a nit, I'm not satisfied with BBR's paint colors lately. I have the 812 C in 1/18 in the launch colors and the silver is too blue. Looking at this one, compared to the launch colors (I assume that's what this is) the yellow is too bright and doesn't appear to be metallic. I like BBR but the paint mixes are not up to a high standard IMO.
