First, I am not going to sell this to you.
Second, this project will never ever complete, I have instructed friend not to complete it. As of our agreement, I have paid all cost they spent and I will not take the model back.
Thirdly, I totally give up this model and not planning to make or redesign the model in whatever scale.
Fourth, the half complete model as soon will be dumped shortly.
Fifth, for Dino, pls accept my apology (same as message #29)

SLK, don't give up on this. since Dino has no license or copyright. Unless what you did is not illegal, you don't need to care what those silly ppl think about you. Come on, I really like your model very much, don't waste this precious model, let's sell this to Japan. you can reach me with your offer anytine at [email protected].

I really could care less. Dino's work is some of the best I have ever seen. But he posted it on a public forum? Did everyone in Fchat become some sort of patent or copywright investigator when SLK copied off of him. Well just for the record Im going to to testify against all the little pr*cks that drew a Testarossa or Countach when I was in grade school. That'll show em for copying off someone else's design.

Dino, you made it too good and inspired others to follow. Not your fault but for all the other head hunters, take a look on where this info has originated from. Fchat has no special firsts. I had a good day the other day, from now on, if anyone feels happy in life you need to give RocketBoy credit and some props!

Personally, being a battered Mil Acad and Hockey vet, with twitchy hands and torn neck, shoulder and arm muscles, I would give props to anyone who can do such masterful and tedious work. Now if they decided to bastardize a real Pontiac Fiero and turn it into a ugly Diablo or TR and claim its the real deal, that's a different story. If I saw either of these models in person and heard the story behind it as, " I saw something like it on the net. " I would not blast away returns such as, " yeah where, you call Ferrari and ask them to do it? " or " Why would ruin such a lovey car like the 612." Lay off people, this idea was basically thrown out there to everyone to admire and I have yet to see a claim tagged to it saying, " THIS IS MY WORK! HANDS OFF!"

    Nuts,

Because Dino threw out his awesome idea on a public forum, there was a chance someone would be motivated by it to do something similar. So what if SLK doesn't title another thread claiming, " WHY DINO INSPIRES ME."

I am sure there are a few owners on this site that saw a car posted on some showroom pic, member's personal profile, or even from some photoshop job. They then turned around and purchased or ordered a car based on that. I doubt there's a thread or profile detailing that the car stated in ownership, " I owe my idea to John cause I saw the black race seats in his Maranello on a post made 2/24/02."

Any great idea is going to be duplicated. From the most extreme like replicars, to the most mundane such as a school kids doodle of a car. If they don't openly quote the source of their work/copy, I personally don't care because that info was out there a long time ago and with no tags. Personally I don't think SLK was trying to steal Dino's thunder. He took an idea and put his own spin on it. This practice has been part of the human race since... well actually the idea for the wheel was mine. You'all owe me.

    Nuts,
First of all - why don't you get lost. All you are doing in this thread is stirring the pot... Clearly, slk99 feels remorseful about this whole situation, has decided to discontinue the construction of the model, and is planning on destroying it. HE DOES NOT WANT TO SELL IT TO YOU. I commend him for his actions in the aftermath of this snafu - although his initial judgement could have perhaps been better, he is trying to make things right, and he's offered an apology. If you want one so bad, pony up the cash to have the original designer build you one in 1:18 diecast (not volunteering you Dino...just making a point) - money talks. If you're looking for a cheap deal, you're no different than any other ripoff artist. What's next - fake Rolex watches?

This has become a really pathetic thread.

Dino did a great job on his 1/24. If Prodrive were to actually build the real car, and their designer not having seen Dino's model, I would bet the real car would look very similar to Dino's model. That speaks volumes as to Dino's ability to design and execute in scale. I would think Dino used the Prodrive 575 as a design basis for his 612 GTC. He used very basic and accurate race car design for his version of a 612 GTC. Only the wind tunnel results are missing. So is that copying someone else's ideas?

    Yes it is. So what?

There is only so much that one can do on a GT body in scale and in full size. Using a 612 Scag is original, but the basic design is not. What impresses me is Dino's model making skill, and the imagination he has to apply the looks of the Prodrive GTC to a different car.

McLaren copied Jim Hall's wing, most F-1 cars gravitate to 2-3 similar designs, all NASCAR cars look the same, most all IRL cars look the same, etc. There are only so many currently acceptable aerodynamic prinicipals that can be applied to race car design.

SLK openly acknowledged that his car looks like Dino's, that in itself is true flattery. I don't recall that he ever tried to hide that fact. SLK, there is no reason for you to abandon your project, especially because some rather myopic individuals have taken sides. Your apology to Dino should be more than sufficient.

There are so many other important topics to be discussed, so this thread should probably die a slow death. And just disappear.

I only wish I could build models as well as this.

Well that explains why 99.9% of your posts in this thread are nonsense.

Agreed. Nuts, either get lost, or improve your English, as the points/arguments you tried to raise in this thread were simply pathetic and my 8 year old nephew could've done better.

Thanks for your response, apology and for stopping production of the model.

I know you're disappointed to miss those potential sales...but you will have other ideas to increase your business...and to do it in a way that is not controversial. Many lessons are learned in business and one of the most important is that you will not survive without a good reputation...and you saw here how fragile that can be.

I don't think you're a bad guy...you just didn't think this venture through very well...I don't know much about your business history but I do recall your credibility was called into question on F Chat once before....maybe you should rethink your business practices so as to operate in a more professional manner to avoid losing repeat customers and future ones.

Someone forward me that you post a thread in other forum, in fact, I have no direct relation with the store you mentioned in that thread. I am only a customer of them. My friend only make one for my own collection and has no plan for mass production.... Well, some ppl from that forum has sent bad message to their mailbox and now someone is behind me for killing, as they believe this has already hurt their reputation.

Been following this thread on here, and over on the thread that Dino made on AF.

Good to see it cleaned up. It would severly piss me off to see his design ripped off. Its very unique, and i know that if i saw such a thing as the 612 GTC, i'd know who came up with the original design.

Did you email Ferrari. Spa., with your design?

SLK, just ignore everyone, I believe Dino won't make this in bigger scale. Can you tell me how can I reach your friend and ask him to make one of this lovely 612GTC for me. I look forward your reply.
