1:18 F40LM, how much would you pay for this one?

Price would depend on the quality, is it new, original box, clean or dusty, etc...

 

The front wheels look like they are off?

 

All right guys. Here are my 2 cents.
First the basics. The model is definitely based on a Bburago F40.
The quality is average. The wheels are not fit properly in the front, so they stick out. Also the lug nuts in their centers should be black. The front chin splitter is incorrect for a factory F40LM (or GTE). The top plane of the rear wing also seems incorrect. Also it is missing the rear diffuser. Based on these observations this is either a home build F40LM (not from a transkit) or a combination of aftermarket parts and homemade ones. You should know also that paint can pretty much be judged only in person. Perfect example is the blue 355 that 285ferrari made (his first custom) which looks just fine on the pictures but Robbie is saying it lacks gloss.
About the price. I think anything on this world, is worth what its owner is willing to part with it for.
There are no F40LMs made out there so prices can be of all sorts. But you are not going to find a perfect10 F40LM for $250. I guess the question left is-
Are you willing to pay $250 for an average one? And this , my friend, depends simply on how much do you want it.

A couple more things. The front headlight housings and its "glass" are definitely homemade and ALMOST correct. Whoever made it went through the trouble of making the little ducts under the doors(not an easy task). The exhaust is wrong which makes me think that the engine bay is untouched, and on a LM you need at least different mufflers. The center bar in the rear grill should be flared on its top and bottom and this one is straight, which makes me think it is also home made. Also there should be a support under the middle of the rear wing.
Here is my conclusion. This is a homemade model (no aftermarket kit used). And for what it is (homemade) it is good. The upper side of which is that if you get it you are most likely to have something unique that would probably never be duplicated.

That's a very nice model JGC...I looked on Warm Up's website and saw a 1:18 Totip LM for 313 Euros or ~ $421 USD.

So, perhaps as a comparison, if you can get a really nice MG (if they're still available) for $420 USD, how does the one Kelvin is considering stack up at ~ $270. I think the front wheels were what bothered me the most, but on the whole, it's not awful. Not hyper-accurate, but not awful. Have seen a lot worse right? Maybe for $270 (not factoring in big shipping cost to Australia) it would be a nice addition to the collection. If it were $200, I think it would be a sure thing.

A possible third option: Michael, Andreas, Cavallino and other skilled builders...maybe a Merikit transkit on a Bburago base would come in at under $400 USD?

Nah, why pay $ 200,- for a sub par model anyway? That´s just $ 200,- down the drain. It is better to spend $ 400,- wisely.

There's plenty of builders in Australia. Find one, tell them what you want and get a quote. That will fix the wrong wings and misfit front wheels on the spot.

I am lucky enough to have one here at work. It's like having a 1:43 machinist, pannel shop and paint shop downstairs.

He's done a 'Straman' conversion for me, put correct tobacco stickers on cars, fixed broken wings, and his new trick is marbles on tyres and post-race oil smears on raced cars.

 

Try Scuderiamodelli in Germany, I think this set was selling at 40EUR.

My car is handbuilt by a famous Japanese modeler, it cost about 1050EUR.
