Nice job. I like the fact that you got the number of cooling slots right (4 on the LM as opposed to 5 on the street car).

The rear wing should have a center post for support and depending on what model you're replicating the cooling grid in the rear was only left partially in. Also on some cars there was a rear fog light.

I'm anxious to see the wheels, tires, the interior and the underbody tray. As well as the engine compartment (all different compared to stock).

Please keep us posted with pics!

Hi Andreas - I'm glad you noticed the 4 and not 5 cooling slots - it took a long time to fill the extra slot and make it un-noticeable! I have the rear centre post for the wing which will go on next. The car I'm really trying to replicate is the one in the photo. The wheels I have are from another transkit and are the closest to the OZ's I have found. The rears even go on the Bburago axle and spin. I want to make sure the fronts turn as well. Sould hopefully start putting it together over the next week and will keep F-Chat up-to-date!

    John,

How was your 1/12 F40 LM modification going?

Aha, somebody who knows his LM! Awesome. I filled the 5th slot on my F40 LM as well, but you did a nicer job. Congrats!

Great that the wheels even spin, an added bonus! I managed the same on my car, but it doesn't always work that way.

I bet you had to clean out the front section with the spare wheel. That was the hardest thing for me on all my F40 mods: Making that new front hood align and fit with all the stuff underneath.

I'm sure you noticed the side fuel tanks on the original? Do you know that the F40 LM has a different exhaust from the street version? And another cross bar over the engine.

    Andreas,
I've tried to do as much research as possible from photos - At the moment the engine is going to remain stock-ish as I need to find some more 'bits' to make the intercoolers. The exhaust is also a bit of an issue as I'm not sure how to make the 'tubi' tubes so I'll just be going with the 3 round tail pipes for now. But are you sure about the 2 cross bars over the engine? I have seen this but I thought it was like that on the F40 GTE not the LM. Here's another pic of the F40 LM I'm using as reference

    Michael,

I'm not sure what to do at the moment - as you know I have the 1/12 F40 Lightweight now which would be easier to base the modification on. The trouble is that it is a really nice model in its own right and I think it would be a shame to mess it up. I may buy another F40 Lightweight and use that. I'd start by adding the APM 'light tune' transkit but then the intercoolers need changing, the small NACA intakes in the sills need adding, then the wing mirrors, dash board and of course the front hood! Don't worry, I'll let you know any progress!

Hmm, I'm puzzled now. I have seen a pic with 2 bars, which is why I added one to my model, but now that I'm looking at all the pics I can only find pics with one bar. You might be right.

This doesn't looks like the MDS F50 GT... is it the one made by Cavallino Scrimante... what do you think?

I think it is the one made by G. Robert. It is a good model, you can see more photos here:

I've posted this URL on my 'modified Elite F40' thread on F-Chat as I've used them before. I've just checked their website and they have lots of new bits available which should transform my F40 LM to even new levels of detail. Check it out www.trmonia.org. They do loads for the F40 but lots of other models too.

cool! I've had a couple 1/18 bBurago F40 LMs made with Robustelli Trans kits!

If you can, take a picture of all the little bits and pieces of the kit itsself..that should also be really impressive!

But the Robustelli transkits are always very expensive, as compare the Tremonia (Andre), it is far cheaper than robustelli... I bought quite alot kits from Tremonia last year and this month.

I agree Michael, Robustelli look like good quality but I have bought from tremonia and think their kits are excellent! (I have contacted APM about the Diablo 6.0 - thanks)
