CMC Ferrari - MODELLE 1:18 - Produkte - CMC Classic Model Cars not the only one, the nurburgring one and lm 62 also......now we are talking buiness!!! although i would stick with the Kyosho versions....
I know the consensus is that Kyosho's is the best shape wise but the fine details and wheels on the CMC are just stunning.
Can't argue with that!!! In terms of detail they are probably the best out there....after Exoto i guess...
Typical CMC..... nice choice but using the wrong car as the basis for both new models. Body is wrong as will be numerous details. The car CMC used to replicate as the basis for all versions they'll offer is 3809GT, which as discussed here before, has been crashed & rebuilt a number of times, and is improperly restored with "new" body panels and parts that were ALL constructed in England. It does not match any other GTO it is far from correct for any of them. At about $500. per model.... these types of mistakes and cavalier attitude are far beyond what is acceptable for me and most collectors that I know.
I am with you 100%. I am not buying this model, no matter how much I love the real car. I have almost all the Kyoshos and the only good thing I see coming out of this major f-up from CMC is that now maybe the couple Kyoshos I am missing may pop up for sale for some decent money. CMC coming out with that particular GTO in Red only would be somewhat arguably acceptable. But making all these different versions, based on a very particular car is just a crying shame. They were the company I respected most, that did not play "the milking game", but I guess they have gone to the dark side too. I believe the only thing left for collectors is to vote with our wallets and send them the right message, that $#!t like this will not be tolerated.
Looksmart anounced they will also be making the 250p lm winner from 63!! Can´t get much better than this!!!
I really hope Looksmart will honour all their promisses, man they are on a roll! But let's wait and see when these models actually become available.
I must say i'm not in a rush, i hope they give me time to make some money between releases, otherwise i will miss most of them!!!
I hear you. At least they should come out with one or two models shortly so we can judge their quality and to confirm they are earnest about it.
I saw some pics in diecastinternational of teh looksmart stand ion hong kong and they had already the 61 and 62 trs and the 250 lms.......can't wait to see this week pics from the toy fair...
From LookSmart. But research is notSoSmart. Photo is from a dealers website who lists this model as available. I have NO affiliation with this dealer, just pulled the photo as found on their site. Overall details seem good, and an ok attempt at the different wheels front & rear, but interior is weak, with wrong seats, which should be blue fabric with only the outside shell in black. They made the same mistake on their 1:43rds, which I just received for reviews. I guess they are too busy trying to see how they can stick it to BBR. I am not a BBR fan either. They both screw things up. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Marshall, how would you compare it to the Hw elite? do you think it's worth the diference in price if you don't care about this specific version?
Hi Pedro, I think it's a bit of a tough call - partially depends on your budget, what your perceived value is for this and other models, how much of a 250 LM fan you are, etc. I say all of that because I am sort of on the fence about this model. Certainly it is significant from a historical standpoint as being the Last Ferrari to win the 24 hours of Le Mans. Detail is ok, and the body shape looks very accurate for this long nose LM. I prefer the looks of the non-long nose LM's. The HW Elite models are ok place holders, but not great, and none in my opinion were good enough, and I have not bought any of the HW 250 LM models. LookSmart also did a better job on the wheels. I guess if I really wanted a 1:18 250 LM in my collection I would buy a LookSmart model; it is a better overall value, and they won't be making 5,000 or 10,000 of them like the HW pieces.
Thanks for the reply, i do wan't a 250 lm as my main focus at present are Ferrari sport prototypes...but i have both the 61 and 62 cars on preorder, and i also prefer the 60 tr and the 315s to the 250...and money doesn't stretch, that's why i was looking for a cheaper alternative.....but i don't like to buy something and then stay with the feeling that..it wasn't the right car to buy.....
I have had the BBR 1/18 288GTO on preorder, looks, like LookSmart will beat them to market with their version.
So will you be keeping the BBR preorder? Where did you order from? The Looksmart will definitely be slightly less expensive. I"m debating this right now.
The preorder is from BBR ModelStore. I will keep the preorder as the model should be very nice when it comes out, plus the deposit for preorder is non-refundable. The LookSmart should be very nice as well.
