I just got my Raikkonen F2007 in 1/24 and it's a dramatic drop in Mattel quality and detail from the Williams FW22 I got almost three years ago. The instrumentation and antenae are not as fine, there are some gaps, and the rear wing is at an angle.

The Williams had great looking wheels and the Ferrari's look clumsy. Worst of all, the Williams had nice silverish radiators down in the sidepods whereas the Ferrari has just red metal!

I wasn't expecting 1/18 levels of detail, but at least should have been on par with where they were long ago. Never heard of a model ocmpany actually dropping features like that. It will look OK on a shelf, and it's not worth uprgrading to the 1/18.

Mattel's quality in general on their F1 cars has dropped. I've noticed also the Mattel Ferrari's have more quality issues. Be we should get a bunch of names together on a letter to a Mattel's Rep. with our complaints

The problem is, when you write a complain letter, they won't do a thing for their customers. I bought a 456M when it just came out (in Champagne colour). Now the whole paint looks like I set it on fire. It's unbelievable bad. Then I bought the 166MM. Really nice good looking model. After two months the same problem as the 456M started. But I'm a real collector of Ferrari cars, of course you need to stay with HW. So I bought the F430 challenge Elite series. Aswell nice model, only it's not correct. It has 2 seats instead of 1 and the paint with decals are very bad. The make a long story short, I have totally 7 models with or bad paint, parts missing (like your 2007), decals are not right or the parts are in an angle.

I decided to write a letter. They gave me an answer by e-mail after 2 weeks, which is pretty fast. It was litteraly saying; "We can't do anything about it, the best thing you as a customer can do is buy replacements for these damaged models". So a letter doesn't mean anything to them. What you probably can do, is that a lot of people with the same or other problems, write a letter. And post it all together to the Mattel people. I'm happy to take this on me, but a lot of people have to coorperate to get a solution.

Hopefully we all decide to do something like this.

If you want great quality buy a handbuilt car. I can't afford them though!

Isnt that Hot Wheels 1/24 F2007 just a repainted version of the 248 2006 model??
They had started doing pretty good. Its to bad they are dropping quality again.

So write Ferrari Spa with complaints. They gave Mattel the license. People complained to Ferrari in 1999 and the quaility improved in 2000 thru 2002 only to drop way off since.

Check out a 1/18 Mattel 1999 F399, and you'll see what I mean. That model was horrible.

It's time to complain again. I don't know enough about computers or I'd do it myself, but someone should set up a website that automatically sends the same complaint letter via email to Ferrari.
