I thought that some of you might be interested... My long term project, a scratchbuilt 250 GT PF Coupe in 1/24 scale. Most of the needed parts are done, the rest will come from various 1/24 Ferrari and other plastic kits. The wheels and tires are there just for mockup purposes. If someone is interested in seeing how it was done so far, here is link to my photobucket album: http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/nniemi/250GTpfCoupe/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's very impressive. Did you start with a kit body or is the body also scratchbuilt? edit: it took me a few minutes to figure out what "AF" is. For anyone else who doesn't know, visit http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=894746 for more info on this buildup. Again, that is very impressive. IMHO the car is elegant and understated. If you sell copies as kits, I would be interested in buying one.
Great work, and you took the trouble to photo-document it. I have a similar scratch-built project, idle for 2 yrs. at about the same stage as yours is now. It's a "generic" 250 TDF, laboriously put together from 1/24 Cali Spyder and 250 SWB kits. You've inspired me. I'll get some photos and post them.
I got the exhaust done. Baiscly i now have all the parts that i need. Only thing that is left with these is to check out all the small imperfections that i left during the building process. -Niko Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ron- See his thread at Automotive Forums, it has a lot more details. He started with a Revell California Spyder. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=894746 Be sure to check out the Lancia Stratos Zero thread on the same board. Some guy digitized the dimensions and cut a mold with a CNC router. Great avatar, BTW.
Yes, I started with Revell California Spyder body that had quite correct shape of the wheelarch openings and taillights. Roof is highly modified AMT '66 Mustang HT. Rest is automotive polyester putty. About 100grams of it, plus a lot more sanded away. Interior parts are mainly made of sheet styrene. But as Lee said, check the AF thread, it has a lot of pictures about how it was done. -Niko
A little update, parts are now cast in resin. After two years i can actually start to build my PF Coupe. Merry Christmas for everyone. I finally completed this long term project. There are some mistakes here and there, but overall i'm really satisfied with this really unique (so far) model.
