Had a little too much time over Memorial day weekend, so here my latest conversion: I always wanted a professional slot car (scale 1/24) and of course I wanted it to be a Ferrari. Couldn't really find one, so I bought a Pro Trac chassis and found on ebay a 1964 250 GTO Revell slot car.

I did the <gulp> blasphemy and modified the antique toy car to fit the pro slot car. The first pic shows the chassis of the original slot car with narrow wheel base, narrow tires and a whimpy motor. The pro chassis required much bigger wheel arches for the fat tires and the slightly longer wheelbase.

Can't wait to take the car for a spin on a pro track.

That is sweet looking! Love the white lettered tires.

I used to race Parma Womp Womps and full customs at a track in Corpus Christi Tx. I wonder if Mr Harris still has the track or someone has taken it over from him. He would be very old now. "Slot Car Raceway" near South Padre Island Drive was the track. Last time I was there was 1988. There was also a drag strip run by a guy named Alfred Whitesides. I used to run my oval track car there as it lessened the brakes enough to where the car slowed just right coasting into the corners...otherwise it slid out due to rapid braking with the trigger all the way off. Consistancey was king.
