Does anyone recognize the series III GTE model in the top photo? If so, can you tell me who makes it and where can I find it? It appears to be by the same manufacturer of the model in the second and third photos (though those are of a series I-II GTE and are a different color). Before anyone says "Bang," please take a look at the last photo. This is the Bang 1:43. The others appear to be of a much higher quality than the Bang model... or is it just me?

Looks like the BBR version to me.
On www.bbrmodels.it under 'models' and then 'classic Ferrari' they show a metalgrey coloured one (BBR52A).

Just to be precise, the BANG-version comes in 'rosso mettalizato' under articlenumber 7279.

Here's the BBR version you're referring to. It's the Ferrari 250 GTE "Enzo Ferrari" 1959 and is only a series I car, of course. Notice the size/shape of the photo-etched metal surrounding the windows on the BBR car, exactly like that of all of the other BBR/MR models that I have and different from the mystery model.

...and I can only find 250 GTE series I cars in the BBR online catalogue. So that pretty much rules out BBR...

    Hello Wayne,
I think it is from Esdo released in the summer of 1984, reference number 33. Its a handbuilt car realised by Esparcieux Dominique in resine, only sold ready built. It is considered one of the best renderings of the 250 GTE. Several parts are AMR made. This is a blue version. There were also metallic grey, black, white and two different colours of red versions. I think it won't be easy to find one.

    Wayne,
For me all the cars are Bang
I have the first one in red (7277), and 1903GT (7300) (Here is an old thread on it, because some mistakes)
The boxes are so Bang boxes.
The cars are special hight quality and the value is 55 euros in France.

Thats what puzzles me as well.

I took my own Bang GTE (also 7277) from the cabinet to compare, and I don't see that much difference. It might as well could be a Bang.

The previous owner of your car asked me where he could find a model of the 3rd series GTE. I have researched availability a while back and wrote an article about all GTE models for the GTE register (the list is now outdated !).
I have the red ESDO, which is the 3rd series. Bang also released 3-4 series 3 varieties (including a light blue metallic, burgundy, and dark blue). I think this is what you have got in the picture. BBR ones were only of the series 1. I also have an AMR (very different from the ESDO). Other models include Dinky, Solido, Verem, Polistil, MCGregor, Clifford, Provence Moulage, several police versions, Bandai (larger scale metal, plastic, and electric cable operated one), as well as a few others.

Page does not have a complete list, but it does have a pic of the esdo:

The last photo that I posted is of the Bang. By comparison, the Bang model appears to have less deeply carved door edges and the vent at the base of the windshield doesn't even appear to be chrome in color. Also, the wheels on the mystery model are more deeply dished and, as I stated before, the window trim is noticably different.

Boudewijn, Luke: I don't know. It just doesn't look like the ESDO to me either.

Wayne, any chance you can see the BANG in the metal somewhere? Or perhaps I can try and post some pics of mine.

Things like the rear licenseplate and stuff are very much BANG. I think the differences you mention are because of the photo itself.

I'm beginning to think that you guys are right. It's the Bang model (burgundy = model #7279). Sells here for $37.95 USD. For some reason it just looked much better in the first set of photos. Anyway, thanks for all of your help!

Here are a couple more that I found. Must say that I'm not too thrilled with it. I sure wish that BBR had made a series III model.

Wayne, In my perception, the wheels take a little bit too much attention, but all in all the model looks ok (youre just spoiled in having the real thing :D )

I actually ordered the series 1 model from MDS Racing in 1:18. Even though it will not be like my car, I did custom order it in Grigio Argento Metalizzato/Nero (20265 A It/Pelle Nera VM 8500), just like 4823. I will report back on the quality. I do not think that they sell a 1:43 version, like Bill Preston reported in the latest version of the newsletter.

Now...if I could only piece together the rest of the history on my car. I have all the owners in US and Belgium/Holland from now back to the the 70s when the car was in WA, and then in SoCal. There is a gap between Chuck Head and when the car was sold by FBA, Franco Brittanic Automobiles in Paris

    Here is the MSD piece

here is a rare model of a GTE, plastic, with a stylized "W" (I assume it stands for Bandai). I have since fixed the cord from the remote.
