I would guess at your O2 sensor being faulty. They can be intermittent as well. They will also start to react very slowly. If, as you said, they are years old, just replace both of them as a matter of course. Your MAF may well be at fault, but the O2 sensor is a more likely culprit. Your coolant temp sensor shouldn't cause it run so rich as to stall the engine, but you could swap the two sensors and see if your problem moves to the other side. You could do the same with your O2 sensors.

If the car is warm not cold, when you idle the idle will be real wonky if the 02 is bad. Or so it happened on mine.

True, because it’ll be super rich or super lean, depending on the type of failure the sensor is experiencing (usually rich) and could cause the engine to stall on idle down.

OK, thanks again guys. I took it out again for a good ride on Sunday, ran great, idle smooth, etc! I'll keep an eye on things. It was loaded on my trailer yesterday, for the trip home FL > Canada, so it won't see another workout until next week! Who knows with these cars getting older, same as my tired body.... just never know when you wake up each morning what's going to be sore.. LOL!

Classic fuel pressure regulator failure symptoms. If cylinder 1 or 5 (closest to the firewall) is the flooded and/or blackened plug, then that is your failure point. Basically, the FPR leaks fuel back into the intake manifold just above those intake runners and floods the cylinder. Raw fuel burns in the cats and you get both a missing and slow down light for that bank.
