You can buy used NASCAR tires in Vegas for $250

 

No rim, no documentation, could be any old tire, get a piece of rope and tie it to a tree for a swing.

 

Yeah...that's pretty outrageous. And from a seller with "0" feedback, to boot.

 

If the Tyre was signed why not show the pictures....all I could work out from the pics are the numbers 9 & 1

Goodyear trailer at the Houston ALMS was GIVING the spent tires to little kids! I rode the Metro Rail back to our car with some of them (kids, not tires).....intoning with deadly seriousness:

"Goodyear is Number 1 in Racing"

They believed me, of course, as I had the Fcar crew shirt on and was taking the Trophy Girl home on my arm........

 

I have a set of used Stradale tires for sale. Pirelli P-Zero Corsas. Compared to that tire, mine are an extreme bargain for $400 for the set. PM for pics/or are interested.

 

I remember on Ebay back in 2001 some guy was selling the 4 tires from Dale Earnhardt's car that he used the day he died. It was the last set before they changed it to the ones that he crashed with. I was going to buy one, he had documentation, bar code from NASCAR, etc, but it was $500 for one tire. Compared to this Ferrari tire auction, it might've been a deal...

 

I used to get used NASCAR tires for free from the pit crews at Infineon Raceway (back when I got them it was Sears Point). But that was when I was a child, so maybe they were just generous to me as a kid...I didn't see many others getting tires.

 

There were HUGE piles at the Houston race.......once the kids saw 'em....GONE pretty quickly!

As I told Valeria, "Those will become glass topped 'bachelor end tables'.... all the way thru college, until the first wife makes you throw all your sentimental memories into the trash......

 

They always give away the used tires. A friend of mine got a Falken Drift tire at a D1 event. He also got it signed by all of the Falken girls. Sadly the driver was MIA.

I have a signed RR from Prost's Phoenix USGP car. Had it hanging in my garage for over 15 years but maybe I should build a glass case for it.

 

I have a blow Pirelli tire from my 02 Maserati that was driven by the infamous ME on the street. Bids start at $8,500, shipping not included.

 

I'm interested. Would you trade for a used air filter from an actual Ferrari?

 

I have an authentic F1 Goodyear front tire. Bought it from Speedgear for a few hundred bucks. Actually came with a stand to make it into a coffee table. I just tossed the stand.

 

If you guys want a tire... I'll sell you mine... got it in Detroit in 1987... my friend at Lotus was packing up the crates after the race and did not load up 3 tires...( used ones they used to push the cars around on ... old race tires ) and said here you want one? I said sure!!! and 2 of us walked out of Cobo hall with 2 front tires to an F-1 car ... Good Years... also have a piston & connecting rod from a Brabaham signed by Gordon Murry, and a hunk of Piquet's front wing... he wacked the wall right in front of me literally 3 inches away... on the other side of a barrier... huge hunks of fiberglass all over the place... so I have that too....All of which I would be glad to sell for $10,000!

There was a pix with the word "RENE" on it -- along with the other numbers: Someone labelled the tire as being assigned to (or having come from) Rene's car, the way you see tire set markings on F1 tires today.

But hey, there are about six billion fools on the planet today. He only needs one.

Modern world: "Value" is relative. If the buyer thinks he's got something, then it has value to him. How long before we get our first lawsuit for "reduced value" from telling someone that he doesn't really have the Easter Bunny's lucky rabbit's foot? (Suing the guy that gave him a clue, rather than the slimer who sold him the bogus bunny foot)

Think about all the crack he'll be able to buy after sells this tire. Sadly, he needs to find a bidder that smokes about as much crack as he does.
