It's sad whats going on in todays world. We're fighting a war with no purpose instead of spending money to help our own society.

A very sad event no doubt.

After a brief period of mourning, which deep pockets will be sued?

The gun just made it easy..thats all. Would have been much more difficult with a knife or whatever. When was the last time you heard of a mass stabbing?

Guns make killing easy. They make it fast. Pull the trigger and run before the body hits the floor..peice of cake. And the owner of the gun was also irresponsiable. There are some dumass cops out there.

Terriable terriable tragedy that could have been avoided. I'll most of the blame for this lies with the parents but we will never know now. But it does not excuse the fact that guns make killing easy..this is why they were invented. It was a better, cleaner way of killing. If it was not easier then we would still be fighting with axes and sowrds.

I'm not anti gun..but this is an example why they do need to be controled. Anybody with a gun in the home no matter who they are, should be held accountable if that weapon is used in a crime, or is found to have been negligent in the storing of the weapon.

Both grandparents were killed though right? The kid could have found the key or a way to get to the gun.

You are correct this is a possiablity..But the kid got access to the gun before the parents were shot I'm assuming. Be that as it may..that key should have been in a safe place were only the owner of the weapon would know were it is located. I most definatly should not be on a key ring on your key chain!

And it would really be that difficult to get the The Big Book of Mischief and then build a bomb and simply use that. Or maybe if the Kid didn't have a gun he would have chosen to use a car and ran students down.

Frankly, this problem has nothing to do with the gun or the availability of the gun, it has to do with the ****ed up Kid.

In Columbine, the 'plan' as it were was actually to kill people with bombs, and use the guns to pick off the survivors.

Guns are not the most effective killing tools, but they are better than pointed sticks.

As with anything from a gun, to Ted Kenedy's car, to a forester's chainsaw, it is the NUT BEHIND THE WHEEL that is the problem.

Did anyone else find the "Find your classmates" embedded ad banner to be in bad taste?

This is just another symptom of how the "me" generation has raised a "fsck everyone else" generation.

Civilization is dead. Don't like someone? Shoot 'em, car-bomb 'em, crash a plane into their cities.
After all, anyone that isn't you is "the enemy". Gah.

Just saying, the ads are random. They change each time you load the page.... Otherwise I agree with pretty much all you've said.
