    Dear Ferraristi,

I live in FL and my local county (Polk) has mandated 10% ethanol in gasoline. Will this affect my 91 Testarossa ?( US version ).

I have the stock exhaust with no cats but with O2 sensors in the bypass tubes.

    Please advise.

    BTW,

All gas stations now have the ethanol....no escape !

Your TR will be fine with the ethanol, but expect a very slight decrease in gas milage as ethanol has a lower caloric value than gas, so milage will suffer. I'm sure with the 12 cylinder you should be use to it! :)

Haven't had any obvious (or quick to occur) problems in ~8 years/~40K miles of TR use related to the 10% ethanol fuel blend -- we were "early adopters" (but I think it does somewhat hurt the longevity of the "rubber" components/hoses).

Don't forget to ask for a 10% discount when you fill up because you are only getting 90% REAL gasoline.
(Strange how the oil companies forget about this little discrepency. Let's see now,....10% of each gallon's cost times a few hundred million gallons equals.......more profit for the oil companies.) What a gig. Charge 100% of the price but only deliver 90% of the product.

    Hey Shamile,

I have not noticed any issues in Colorado on my Lambo or TR, but yes, gas mileage is substantially affected. I was told to make sure to change the fuel filter every 2 years though, whatever that means??

Tell you what, the current craze for this Ethanol swill is a load of bs. "Hey let's convert food into fuel, drive fuel economy down AND create a world food crisis at the same time! That's just what we need!"

F***ing idiots, the lot of them.

Best post I've seen lately. I love how the environmentalists scream for ethanol as a 'save the world catalyst', then global warming goes through the roof because of it. What a joke. The truth will set you free! (Someone tell that to the Washington Lobbiests and Green Peace radicalists!)

    Dear Ferraristi,

Thanks for the response guys and the added comments.

I was worried that the fuel system couldn't handle it and would cause corrosion or stuff like that.

Yeah, I knew about the lower burn rate hence lower mpg.

You are so right....big oil, laughing all the way to the bank. Maybe they have a deal with the environmentalists....both are laughing all the way to the bank.

But like war criminal Dick Cheney says...."so"

Well at least for me there is one positive aspect. As of last month, the recycling of cooking oil actually has $$ value, so I am being paid from 4 of my restaurants to recycle it.

That will help with a couple of tanks, maybe??
