Check out www.bborr.com Have any of you participated in this Big Bend Open Road Race? It looks like it could be really fun.
Thanks! Quick is good..........LOL! How do you think I get the line into Turn 1???????? I knew from the thread title what it was.... Did you meet Loyal Truesdale in Mexico??? He was in the Cannonball on a bike, you know.......
Quick is good? Not always, but I digress. SOOOOO, has anyone participated in this event? Every since a friend sent me the link today it is all I can think of - 100+ miles of fun. How much better could it get?
Texas Driver Magazine recently featured an article on this......did you see that? I have not participated myself. A trip to Marfa to see the art would be a good time though....maybe combine the two! I went thru west Texas recently but it was thru the night and all I remember was the Balmorea Exit sign!
I never even heard of Marfa. What art? I am guessing you would recommend TDM (any unbiased opinions - I know they are a sponser)?
There is a group of Panteras that do this. They've been doing well. I think they've got about 5 registered this time.
I dont get it.. how could there be no police.. i mean esp. after stating everyones intentions to "race"...
Because it's police sanctioned. There is no regular traffic in open road races (Silver State, Pony Express, Big Bend, etc.). And really, it's not a true race (unless you enter the Unlimited class). You enter the speed class you desire, and you try to finish the race, having averaged as close as possible to the speed you signed up for. Harder than it sounds. Supposed to be a lot of fun. Watch out for the buzzards!
Thanks for the link Ghostrider ....if you have a Porsche Cayenne bring it on!! Someone had a Cayenne TT in a rally video a few months back
I saw on the website that a pickup truck (maybe a few) ran in the last one. I think I am going to do this in my 05 Mustang. Will probably go earlier in the week for the Rookie/Training sessions and then pick the class. But from what I saw that ran last year, I don't think a fairly high speed group (100+) would be a big problem.
I was referring to artist Don Judd, who bought much of the town of Marfa before he died, as a setting for his work. Chinati Foundation, IIRC is the surviving organization. Google it......
