Joe: What do you know about this one? '81, LP400 S3? White/Blue, needs work, 100,000 miles. Wow! Someone drove this one! #: LP1121121368 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lamborghini-1981-LAMBORGHINI-COUNTACH-NEEDS-WORK-51-000-NO-RESERVE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem230a7841b6QQitemZ150499508662QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks Mike
i remember that car on our new years rally back in 05 or so. the owner was nice older chap that did the wrenching himself. some how he shoehorned a mazda RX something starter on when the original one gave out. at that time it had like 60 or 80K miles on it. i recall it had a aftermarket tach taped on the inner A-piller. i didnt notice if it was a S1 low body or S2...im guessing its the taller one
several people always post about a "project countach" so lets see who is serious now about taking one on.
"WHITE WITH BLUE INTERIOR THEY BOTH NEED WORK." Ummm... both what need work? I'd think a few more clear pictures and a bit better description & phrasing would really help the seller garner some interest.
sadly it will probably sell for more without them...many buyers prefer to let their imagination describe the car
When auctions like this pop up and you cannot go see the car in person , you can hire someone local who can take photos and inspect it, I don`t think there will be many $50K Countachs that are complete , it makes me mad that all my credit lines were slashed in half or more for no reason( never missed a payment and never late either ) or I would be all over this car .
Most likely, the new owner will have too much money in the car, after the car has completed a restoration. Unless of course, it is restored in a country with inexpensive labor. Cost of motor rebuild - pull motor and transmission electrical strip paint overhaul suspension bodywork fiberglass repair the clutch new rubber new tires Weber carb rebuild disassemble the car - doors, glass, radiators, gas tanks, and bumper etc... plumbing interior re-spray misc repairs the unknown A few people have spent a lot of money, in an attempt to make a tired Porsche 912, an as-new car again. You could do worse than restoring a 1980 Countach. A 1980 Countach, has decent upside.
Some guys are very fortunate to have wives that love when they do buy something. Mine just tells me if I buy I car I have to take her to dinner or she'll settle for cheap jewerly.
